The PS1 game? Didn't know that was the case. I recently recall that being true for PS3 Warhawk when I was on there.
A key part of Christopher's comment from his second GG blog is this (to me):
"Essentially, there's a Venn Diagram of sorts here in which N4G overlaps with GG and similar topics. It is not a 100% type of thing. The goal of our policy is to do our best to include what people feel is in that overlap while preventing the site from going into areas that aren't about video games. "
When considering the title and the content here, I believe it&...
Sigh...both you and lawyer are just circumventing restrictions from your original accounts. I'll leave these comment unmarked just so this can (hopefully) be seen by other posters.
The first thing that crossed my mind when reading this title was that stupid GDC rant on KotakuinAction. I'm not surprised to see that it's referenced here. The strangest thing about it was the stange discomfort of the good 'old dev days couple with the odd idea that some oppressive force is coming to steal the bygone joys of their youth. And that material kind of mirrors parts of this blog.
Seems like this writer does them for Fox quite often.
-Metro; Redux
-TLOU: Remastered
-Destiny
-etc.
lol
Thank RNGesus for looking favorably upon you. :P
Oh joy. -_-
Was only teasing, cl! For reals though: congrats on winning.
But that same resolution logic for twitch bro shooters can apply for fps as well: what's the point in having them if you can't see, process, and react to your opponent with twice the frame rate?
I gotta get some aloe vera for that burn.
I did like where you were going with this in giving Ninty credit until...
"Best movie? Transformers. Best TV? X Factor. Best book? Fifty Shades of Grey."
...that part.
I think that's being condescending when considering how different the situation is for games. First, I did indeed vote for more of the 'hardcore' stuff on the list, but I also tried limiting myself (in most categories) to voting for what I had actually pl...
Just to provide our description for the Innovation category:
"Moving a genre forward in either big ways that challenge conventional thinking or through subtle, nuanced techniques to a standard visual/gameplay/storytelling formula is what this selection is all about."
Seems to fit the bill there.
Believe it or no, I haven't played it either. Soundtrack was one of the few categories I didn't feel I should limit myself only to what I had played since most were available via YouTube.
Maybe that's something special we can do for Soundtrack next year: present all the nominated choices and have specific tracks linked next to each of them for voters to decide. Just something that came to mind. :)
An expected list for the most part. Not a lot of my choices won but I haven't gotten around to playing many of the listed winners. Who knows, perhaps I'll agree with many of these choices down the road.
I'm honestly shocked to see Destiny winning for soundtrack. While it's a solid OST in its own right, the crazier tunes in something like Transistor made me believe it would be a hands-down winner.
Respawn's a nice surprise but I think it's well-earned when considering their extended dedication to the game in 2014 via updates on top of what TF brought to the table.
What else are they going to think...that I'm winning so much based only on my material and writing? Psshhh...c'mon man.

I guess I'm quite the charmer. ;)
Only sometimes?
Appreciate the selection and congrats to other winners. Well...maybe not cl. [-_-]~
Thanks to all those that contributed to the conversation as well (and in my past entries).
Edit: If we were to predict the next Star Wars movie's quality by the TotS blog winner selections in the past we'd get a rather odd jumble: I, V, VI, and Clone Wars. I guess that translates to it becoming a rather polarizing film upon release! :D
If you're talking about the KotakuInAction post, I believe he mentioned just meeting more less-skilled devs than before. Whether that's the specific one you're referencing or not, suggesting that one's anecdotal experience can suggest how a big part of the industry feels regarding the event is a great exaggeration.
Who's to say any of that mingling, critiquing, marketing, informing, etc. has now been hampered compared to the GDC of 4 years ago? Conside...
