I dont get why people rag on the wii for shovelware, it was the market leader. Of course it had shovelware. The PS2 and PS1 both had oodles of the stuff too, doesnt make any of the three lesser consoles.
I had a lot of fun playing lightgun games like HoTD and Dead Space on Wii. Also visually unique games like No More Heroes or Madworld and Zack and Wiki. Xenoblade and The Last Story were also among the best JRPGs last gen. This is still not mentioning Nintendo's own games...
I respect your opinion. Truthfully i never gave Reach that much of a chance because i didn't enjoy the single player, and the multiplayer just felt kind of boring for me.
Those examples weren't given because i think Halo 3 is on their level, those are just games that are often given as generating the best memories on people as kids. For people my age, Halo 3 (and some others) was that game.
@AshHD
I thought about including a segment on why the mechanics of old school Halo are so great, but i felt i'd be distracting from my point.
The shield system and the amount of ammo it takes to put just one guy down ensures you cant just plow through entire teams like in COD or BF (and when you do, it feels that much more rewarding), so you have to rely on each other to win.
Also the Warthog amazingly stands as a unique vehicle this man...

Guys chill the hell out. He said he likes the Wii U, why are you antagonizing him for not liking it as much as you do?
Why does everything have to be a contest with this site?
All he said was "it broke the impression that indies dont sell on Nintendo". Not, "LOL it sold more than on xbox/PS!"
The rare occurence of a developer other than Nintendo finding success on their platforms, and you have to immediately find ways to downplay it?
Bubbles are whatever. Ive had as low as 2 before, and nothing really changed. How often do you think you will post more than 3 comments on an article?
The bubble system is due to be replaced soon anyway. A lot of people dont like the system, including the mods. Its been beaten to death for years now.
Personally i dont mind it. I've said some pretty unpopular things here that get bombed with disagrees but as long as its clear that im just voicing an opinio...
That's his point lol. DriveClub is a decent game post patch but there are so many games better than it.
Lol the top 4 have come out in the past couple years, too.
The thing with these lists is, do you judge a game on its impact, or on how it stands today?
This is really what i wanted from a sequel. The tombs looked cool in the trailers.
Ive never thought much of Halo's story, but after playing all the games in MCC im pretty psyched to see where it goes
@Bitby
We don't know what the xbone is at but it's estimated (pretty conservatively) at 13 million, not 12. The Wii U is a hair over 10 mill.
Either way, say Wii U has sold around 10.5 million units in 33 months since Nov. 2012. That is an average of 319,000 units per month.
Xbone has sold around 13.5 million since Nov 2013 in 21 months. That is an average of 643,000 per month.
These two platforms simply don't nee...
@Major Glitch
Battling for second place? Are you serious? Do you see what the Wii U sells these days?
Its been out a year longer and is still 4 million behind. There's no comparison between the xbone and Wii U. I like the system, but it is no longer competitive, period.
Also whats with this whole "place" nonsense? Profit is what matters. The OG Xbox back in 2005 beat the Gamecube by 3 million, but Nintendo didnt lose nearly as m...
The problem is neither Persona 5 nor DQ 11 are PS4 exclusives. The fact that DQ is also on 3ds kills the ps4 version's potential to sell much hardware, and P5 is on PS3 which already has 10 million units out there.
FFXV looks to be the only game that can sell the platform to its full capability.
A decent percentage are probably collectors who buy everything.
Westerners probably imported the launch console rather than wait a year for the Japanese xbone.
@callahan
And that school system of grading is what permanently muddies the numeral based review with games and everything else. Totally useless system that needs to go.
@suckingeggs
But if every score is made with that definition, shouldn't every score be the same? Opinions are a huge part of reviews, PURELY objective (which isn't even really possible) reviewers would be in the minority. If everything is reviewed under the assumption of "even though i dont like this, everyone else will so 8/10" then we lose that generalized outlook.
A review of any media is nothing more than an outlined and explained opinio...
@Otaku
I know why. I really dont need you to tell me that as if it validates or invalidates anything.
@wonderfulmonkeyman
Yeah nothing. Except, you know, Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter at launch, two of the biggest series in Japan.
The Wii U's been behind almost all year despite having Splatoon which was the biggest console game this year until MGS.
And that's my point. Even though it has more Japanese games, it's still selling worse for the year. Why? Because it's been selling twice as long.
The irony is that motion controls are here to stay. Nintendo themselves definitely wont abandon gyros in their controllers, and now Sony uses them in both the Vita and the Dualshock 4. Hell, the Dualshock 4 even has a mini speaker, like the Wii did.
The only one not using motion controls these days is MS after the kinect 2.0 flopped
