Nintendo has been profitable in video games since the 80s, so they won't be quick to jump ship. I even think Iwata's here to stay for a while (unless he resigns), especially when Iwata reigned over the Wii and DS eras, where Nintendo basically printed money. Hell even made the gamecube, nintendo's worst selling system, proftitable...
yeah the indie crowd has been riding nintendo since the eshop launched, so there's really an established market there. looks like sony's looking to do the same and microsoft's... not.
i thought the gameplay was fun, its just there was hardly any exploration. the game felt too on rails, especially for a damn metroid game.
Maybe it's just the way samus wore the suit in that game. She just didn't carry herself at all, like she was a self-conscious teenager forced to wear a dress to a party. and the suit looked like it had no weight on it like the prime one.
so no gamepad is better than any? i see it as a giant DS... it allows me to check my map/health/fool about with inventory in real time, without me pausing and breaking the flow. That's a great thing to have on a console. There's a wealth of control options available for the console, but i think a gamepad-centric game like Deus Ex would work beautifully.
Look up what the Armikrog team has conceptualized for the gamepad, interesting stuff.

i think it should be clear at this point that the wii u isn't trying to BE a PS4 or xbox one. im buying one to get a different type of gameplay, to use the features exclusive to the wii u, and to play the wealth of great indie games flooding the system. And it doesn't need power to do any of that, especially when nintendo have proven in the past they can squeeze ridiculous results out of their systems.
Wow, im sure the wii u version is better but if people have both systems and aren't informed of the wii u versions superiority, they're going to go for the cheaper one. There go the little sales they hoped for, christ.

i wish they brought in the Prime samus model instead of that atrocious Other M one. i get that it's more classic but that game was terrible and i think fans are trying to forget it considering its fucking with the timeline and whatnot

the thing is, part of what makes the 3ds so great IS the second screen. 3D is a gimmick, but the second screen is becoming a huge bonus to console games today (see smartglass, the vita, and the ps4 controller screen). it allows quicker inventory management then pulling up monotonous menus, checking an optional view like a rear view window in a racing game. as of yet its only been relegated to stupid party games, but the new deus ex looks to use it nicely.
this has to be the 10th kickstarter-funded indie game this month! i hope the indie market on next gen consoles doesn't become overcrowded
too bad people don't realize you can make a fortune more if you just sell these games on ebay.
