For those wondering this is only 194 bucks in US dollars.
All i know is the wii u's hardware is considerably more powerful than what i have, and is capable of delivering quality gaming at great resolution and framerate.
The system is clearly not trying to be a ps4 or xbox one, and while i understand the accusations of it being underpowered, i respect its individuality and inventiveness :)
They dump so much money into these single player canpaigns that basically serve as technical showcases in trailers. I have 3 bs games amd ibe never once completed the campaign. Bf has cod bested in terms of multiplayer depth but theyre both monotonous setpiece-driven shooting galleries on the single player front.
@Anarki
How odd that is, i always thought of nintendo as being very retailer-friendly. In fact TOO retailer friendly, with their online store prices equal to that of retailers as well as their insistence on region locking.
Im sure nintendo can turn this around, but as of late the wii u seems to be in a worse place than the other next gen systems by a concerning margin.
Ive honestly never heard of such a major retailer doing this. Looking at the gamecube, 3ds, dreamcast, cant recall this at any point in their troubled lifespans.
Even if the wii u is selling bad now, dropping right before the big wave of system sellers seems shortsighted.
I cant wait. Not sure what to expect from irrational after infinite. It could be anything.
I think its more like nintendo's already cemented a good relationship with indie games starting with the 3ds, whereas sony and MS are still working on it.
They also know theres a market on nintendo systems, as many indie games have had success on 3ds. The 360 had pretty good indie policies, but a lot of games didnt sell well.
Would definitely buy a VC re-release, the wii u's ghost town of an eshop needs to expand already. Hopefully companies like capcom and namco will also bring their gamecube titles to the eshop.
So shadow of the eternals is unliscenced or what? Now i see it could come to ps4... but an official sequel wouldnt be able to as nintendo owns the rights.
@ The Truth
The wii u has been in development since 2008, i dont think nintendo "stole" the idea from sony. With the popularity of the ds line and the intuitiveness of the second screen experience, i think both companies took the natural progression.
Well said indeed,
A wii u/pc combo will be a very satisfying one, i think.
Who the hell thinks the dreamcast is competitive power wise with the rest of the 6th gen?! Seriously people? The best looking games on the system are shenmue 1 and 2, and they take up 3 discs and still dont compare to what was on the ps2 or gamecube at LAUNCH.
Its a great system nonetheless.
I wouldnt change it either, its become pretty iconic.
I would change the ps4 trophy sound effect though it hasn't stuck with me as well.
Why do people downvote this lol? In terms of 2013 the 3ds probably has the best lineup versus the other consoles, everyones been playing 3ds this year.
So you take the game for the wii u, whose install base you backstabbed by delaying it for over half a year to put on other systems, then decide to make them pay more for it?
I realize it has extra content. But £15 worth of extra content? Highly unlikely.
This is hardly news, lol.
The fact that pc generated more than xbox 360 and ps3, THERE is some news.
Looking forward to it.
Thus far, very respectable approach to dlc from nintendo.
Imagine story driven dlcs for zelda or metroid, a la Minerva's Den from bioshock 2 or the fallout 3 dlcs. That would be awesome.
The handheld market sorely lacks a hardcore audience, so story driven games like uncharted arent so easy to play, suspend, then jump back into throughout the day like professor layton or pokemon are. The vita was advertised as a portable that delivers home console experiences, which i think alienated the home console owners looking for something fresh and intimidated casuals looking for something to pick up and play.
Well said.
I wouldnt call nintendo's use of franchises "milking" per se. More like "riding". Mario kart could feature completely different characters, but they chose the established mario. The mario rpg games are very unique but replacing mario with other characters wouldnt change much. Theres only 2 major mario releases per console traditionally, a 3d platformer and a 2d one ( the wii is an exception with galaxy 2). The rest is all party and sports games that nintendo relies on ...
I was going to say because they had to localize it like sin and punishment, but i remembered that earthbound was already translated. Guess theyre feeling greedy.
Still, 10 bucks over a $200 cartridge off ebay.
No such thing as the ultimate gaming system.
