that's actually a good point, well said.
sometimes it feels like n4g exists in its own little bubble... where the vita tv was a good idea and would save the vita: http://n4g.com/news/1349997...
or where me stating facts like:
Xbox 360 software sales are above PS3's...

I think handhelds exist in their own generations...
Because, for the first year on the market, that's all there was to compare to. Now the other systems are out (not in japan), and now it's being compared to them.
Because the ps3 was the only competition the wii u in japan. The 360 and wii are both dead over there. This is still surprising because the PS3 had tons of software support and the wii u had very little. And also because the wii u was selling around 9k a week in japan for most of this year, which shows just how much the likes of monster hunter, mario, and other series can do to help what many called a dead console. This, to me, says that the wii u isn't inherently an unwanted and unlikabl...
lets hope its actually a hitman game this time.
I dont get the logic of these devs, especially ubisoft. The splinter cell series' sales have dwindled since they decided to toss the COD fanboy's salad with their focus on action and downplayed stealth.
Xbox owners buy a ton of games. I remember DMC4 was the first ever DMC entry on an xbox system yet it nearly outsold the ps3 version.
In fact even with less consoles sold, and with several being second or third units after RROD, the 360 is still 80 million units ahead in software.
Just stating facts.
links to any of that?
bayonetta 2 will likely be later in the year.
i doubt they'll blow their load in the first 6 months... they almost have enought exclusives coming to release one every month. Maybe they still have something else to announce.
There was error on both sides... people were also saying knack outsold mario worldwide. I remember saying "just the UK" and i got nothing but disagrees. Really the fact that knack outsold mario in one country just says how much the UK has no interest in the wii u, not that SM3DW is a flop.
Man. Im glad i dont have such a cynical view of the world. Im pretty sure these MS devils were just giving a compliment, from the deep bowels of their shriveled black hearts. Im sure they went back to spreading cancer and enslaving the innocent afterwards.
If any one of these companies dropped out of the race it would hit the industry hard. Im sure Microsoft understands the legacy of nintendo and its importance, without them MS probably wouldnt even be making consoles. Ever think of ...
@tdogg
Sales dont mean much... snes sold worse than nes, many consider snes the best console ever made. Also the 360 has been on the market for 8 years, xbox was half of that. 360 started off good but as the years went on microsoft just kind of let 3rd parties sell the system. If MS maintained the support they gave it for the first couple years, they might still be ahead of ps3.
Xbox was the most powerful console out there, ran pc ports like half life 2, doom 3, thief and morr...
Microsoft's best console was probably the original xbox, it pioneered online gaming and also had a lot of exclusives, because microsoft was fighting an uphill battle. People act like it only had halo, and while that's what sold it it had a ton of other games too.
If they're in last place in the next few years, we will definitely see a lot more interesting things being done with xbone. More games, listening to feedback, more deals, etc.
Most of these developers probably grew up on the NES and SNES, without nintendo's contributions to the industry things would be a lot different.
@aLucidMind
You can look at it that way, but Bioshock has the consistencies specified in Infinite. Tyrannical leader: Andrew Ryan-Comstock, Lower-class rebel: Fitzroy-Atlas, Guardian: big daddy-songbird, character essential to the city's survival: Elizabeth-little sisters, both protagonists share a relation to the antagonists, both cities are secretive and entered similarly, etc. All that, in my eyes, makes it canon. But if you didn't consider it to be, that would create more ...
Bioshock 2 takes place after Bioshock 1, which only exists as a parallel to Bioshock Infinite. Only the man, the city, the lighthouse and the other consistencies are definite. Bioshock 2 has none of that, it just takes place after 1, thus it's only one of an infinite number of events that happened after 1. So it can't be canon.
(SPOILERS)
I know im in the minority here, but i wish he could take back Bioshock Infinite (or at least its connection to Bioshock). I think it neutered the combat and took away any rpg qualities from Bioshock, which itself took away from System shock 2. THEN i think it took away any of the impact from Bioshock's story by making it one of an infinite number of "possibilities". I know most people won't care, but they also pretty much made Bioshock 2 non-canon, or one ...
They have 2 monster hunter games, 2 dragon quest games, a crossover between fire emblem and shin megami tensei, and a crossover between dyansty warriors and zelda. Those are all among the top franchises in japan. the system will sell as good as it potentially can in japan. They know that country well, its NA and expecially europe they need to worry about.
Edit: also X. whether its a xeno game or not we dont know, but it is an online coop rpg with giant monsters AND mechs... a recipe f...
Yeah it was a game by Platinum Games who has never once met sales expectations. I don't think nintendo even had much faith in this because they only printed 30,000 copies for japan at launch. But securing this and Bayonetta 2 i think was a good idea, because platinum has a hardcore fanbase that will go anywhere for their games, especially Bayonetta 2.
Sony bet big with the PS4 and it will pay off, at least the playstation division will (hopefully) be back to it's former lucrative self.
The question is, i wonder if the cycle will repeat? After the ps4 will probably come out first over the other 2 consoles, i wonder if they will go back to being really cocky like they were in the ps3 days and to a lesser extent the ps2 days, like microsoft was with the xbone, like nintendo was with the n64.
It'll be interesting to see...
excited to get a ps vita later this year :) i always preferred the psp to the ds, but with all the good 3ds games released last year alone it will be a close match between those too.
