Exactly...you said it yourself...they did mo-cap (physical acting) AS WELL. Do you think somebody like Anthony Hopkins or AJ would agree to let someone use their voice AND their likeness, without the standard fee? No, they wouldn't. This movie was all about the technology, and doing something that hasn't been done before...NOT the $$.
My point is, I'm sure there are several devs that could have pulled off the visuals of Beowulf....just not with the high-priced actors.
The link takes you to the Steel Monkeys website, which hasn't been updated for about 2 YEARS. At this point, nothing is known about the game, except that it's in development for the PC...nothing else has EVER been confirmed. This game may NEVER come out, but it was certainly never confirmed for any specific consoles anyway.
There wouldn't BE a Saint's Row 2, without the 360, since it was the only platform the game released on. THQ may have stepped in it bigtime; MS won't let this go unchecked.
What a moron. He's apparently too clueless to realize, that a great portion of that budget, went to Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, etc. That's where Hollywood is far different from the gaming world...for now anyway. Most VG voice talent, can't command the insane $$ that some of Hollywood's elite can.
"THe "UNREAL ENGINE LOOK" is pretty much what you have described with Too Human and Lost planet "
I think you missed my point....those aren't UE3 titles.
The thing is, the limitations you described, are more hardware-specific, rather than flaws in the engine. UE3 was designed, first and foremost, with the 360 and mid-range PC in mind...and later the PS3. For it to be widely adopted, and profitable, EPIC wanted an engine that could be used fo...
...a point-n-click game did this. Can't remember what it was, because it's been so long ago, but I played a freeware p-n-c game years ago, that stole assets from another game. Bethesda may just laugh this one off, if there's no $$ being made. If it's a retail game, however...they're in deep doo-doo. :p
You REALLY need to educate yourselves on game design, before making such an ignorant comment. An engine is a backbone toolset, NOT a box of LEGOS, with predetermined shapes and colors. The things which define a game's look, like colors, level design, character models, textures, lighting....they're ALL completely customizeable. Sure, some devs take the shortcut of going with a "look" that they know works, and sells well. After all, when Gears came out, very little had been shown...
...some of you idiots need to familiarize yourselves with the concept of artistic style. As for any jaggies...they're SCREENSHOTS. You don't see jaggies in the footage shown thus far, which of course has all been pre-beta WIP footage.
...says the kid whose name is 'Fanboi'. *rolleyes*
O.K., you're right....it's WAY EARLY. I must be thinking about ANOTHER 'Dark Sector'. *rolleyes*
...you missed my point. :o You stated you've played the demo, AND rented the game...and STILL don't like it. How could clicking on a link, about a 2ND DEMO, sway your opinion about it? Simple..it CAN'T. Admit it..you posted SPAM, and thought you'd get away with it; next time, leave that crap for the OPEN zone, or DON'T BOTHER.
1 disagree...apparently from someone who ALSO failed 1st Grade math. :D
...but they SELL better on the 360, and THAT'S what REALLY matters. ;)
Ridiculously fast Ninja, wearing nothing but silk jammies, VS. big, heavily-armored Nordic deities....I can't IMAGINE why they're so different. :o
..a tad LATE, maybe. o_0
..if you don't care, why'd you click on the link? You say you played the demo, and didn't like it. You then...for some stupid reason...RENTED it, and STILL didn't like it. So WHY would you bother clicking ANY link concerning this game, if you have so much disdain for it? Makes zero sense...but that's just MY 2 cents. ;)
I can't even LIST that many PS3 games I'm interested in. Uncharted is really the only one I'm MILDLY interested in, and it will be a $20 bargain-bin title, by the time I get a PS3.
...the 360 launched on November 22nd, 2005...which was less than 2 1/2 years ago. Combine that with the fact that there WAS no "war" until the PS3 and Wii launched a year later...and it's only been a 1 1/2 year console war. You fail at 1st Grade math. :o
...I'd take that info with a HUGE boulder of salt. Like I said, the OFFICIAL WEBSITE hasn't updated info on this game, in about 2 YEARS. Just because some website claims they've got the inside scoop, doesn't mean it's legit. Steel Monkeys has made NO official announcements, and has shown very little of the game.
BTW...this game is looking like a huge disappointment anyway. Compare the screens on their website, with those in your link; not even CLOSE. By the time it's done,...
