@Ryudo
I had my doubts re: the controls as well however, the game plays beautifully on the PSP and PS3. Thumbstick/Analog to pull back and aim, X to fire and X again to use the secondary function when in flight.
Takes a couple of minutes to get use to but once you do its fantastic. Best thing is that your fingers no longer get in the way of what you're watching.
The biggest thing that will shift consoles is a price cut or new SKU. The PS2 was so successful as the slim form factor and price cut made it accessible to a wide consumer base. The PS3 is still not priced for the mainstream.
I'm still undecided about KZ3. The visuals and multiplayer look splendid but the single player has me concerned.
@Legion
Don't believe he mentioned anything about switching consoles. I dare say the majority of gamers that get the other console keep their existing one so they get the best of both worlds.
Lets say you do manage to get it in your pocket well unless you have bluetooth headphones it will stay in your pocket doing nothing.
Try getting the PSP2 in your pocket with a set of headphones plugged in. They should have put the headphone plug at one end like the original PSPs and not right in the middle.
I really want the PSP2 but I'm not sure I want to sacrifice having a portable music player (I currently have the PSP Go).
What sort of kit is this guy running. When you dont have to deal with AI and all the other aspects of a game that put load on a system then of course you'll get results like this. However, can this sort of thing translate to the 360 and still yield a great game?
The Gear's franchise looks stunning but the gameplay suffers from the typical linear AI. Play the game 10 times and pretty much the same thing happens.
Good example (been a while since I played so forgive me if I get things wrong) the level in Gears 1 where you have to shoot gas cylinders for light. Of course the cylinders are placed in strategic locations but the thing that annoys me is that you're fighting against a race that can tunnel up from below and yet none ...
Basically it's all about quick run and gun (or kick) action. The AI is average, real-time environmental damage is non-existent, no jumping. Yep, this smells of the Unreal Engine.
I'm sure this game will find a following but for a developer that goes by the name of Epic there games sure have not been of late.
No need for a PSPGo2 however I wish the PSP2 had a smaller form factor. The Go is the best looking and most portable PSP to date. The PSP2 is s step backwards in terms of being portable.
If the PS3 can pull of anti-aliasing that good then why don't we see it more often.
This should have been DLC for Shooter. I would rather see a PJ Monsters 2!
There are 250k players listed on the high score chart and I've not had trouble finding anyone playing yet.
I can't believe they actually have a good lobby system compared to many full price games. Also, the stats are working unlike BC2.
Will be interesting if developers patch existing PSP games to use the second analog.
The Unreal engine was good 5 years ago but the constant tweaks are not hiding its age in my opinion. Bulletstorm for instance. All that gunfire, bullets flying around and the environment shows no damage. Come across a chest of drawers that you have to kick out of the way that end up being indestructible.
Take a closer look. UC2 has a much higher poly count than you can see in that image.
Agreed, but the PSP has some real highlights in its library. MGS: Peace Walker for instance.
When the PSP Go launched it was about $470NZD. I can't see the PSP2 going for anything less than $500 and thats probably the non 3G version.
Your comment echoes those made before the launch of the Wii. The 3DS is like money in the bank.
I personally think the PSP2, although packed with features, has a much harder road to travel. It needs mass street appeal which at the moment it doesn't have.
What I hate is the lack effort that goes into some of the dynamic themes. Especially when it comes to the XMB icons.
Why can't we have animated XMB icons!?!
As for the new interface being shown for the PSP2...looks pretty average. You want a menu system that makes people go wow, that looks cool. What they have shown so far looks functional but does not look as slick as the interfaces your seeing on Android and IPhone devices.
If they ban the console what happens, since its not a hardware hack, if the console is sold to an unsuspecting buyer who finds they can't use it for on-line play?
I never missed the dualshock until they started releasing games that needed it. Honestly, the PSP should have been a portable arcade powerhouse with revamped versions of all the classics.
I grew up on arcade games, the Amiga, Sony PS1, etc and 99% of the time those games used no or 1 analog.
Nintendo and Apple developers know that to make games work you make them to exploit the strengths of the console. Too many PSP developers forgot to do this which is...
