Only thing I really dislike is the cross-hair, especially when with ISA weapons. That bright green cross just looks terrible. Is there any way to select it to be like it was in KZ2?
Like you I have an opinion but unlike you I commented towards the engine and did not make it personal.
Tell you what, go play Gears again and tell me if it plays any differently the next time you play through.
I've been playing games since the 70's and I expect more. Just because its popular does not mean its the pinnacle of gaming. I would take the frostbyte engine over the Unreal engine any day of the week.
My point is, nothing like being able to hide behind a bush for protection from gunfire. I want to see better damage and more realistic environments.
Look at the Bulletstorm demo. Kick that set of drawers out of the way but you can't destroy them. All that gunfire and explosions and the environment is untouched.
Oh yes, where did I mention SOCOM??? Did the makers of SOCOM release Duty Calls or use the Unreal engine?
I'm not a fan of the COD franchise anymore but really, Epic making fun of COD is a little like the pot calling the kettle black. The Unreal engine is past its prime which is fairly evident once you get past the glitz and glamor that is Bulletstorm. Hell, at least you can jump in COD.
So far there has only been one movie that shines in 3D and that was Avatar and even then the colours were muted as a result.
Agreed. Its one of the reasons I won't be piking this game up initially. In NZ you can't find anyone playing KZ2 on-line anymore (been that way for about 12 months). I'm not buying this game unless I know it will have legs on line in this part of the world.
Already the spawn killing is getting annoying.
@Killcycle
Do you already own those games legally for PS3?
No, then its stealing.
So, that video showed me you think its ok to steal Dreamcast software.
Hacking a PS3 for custom apps is one thing but hacking it for pirating games, regardless of their origin, is another.
I'm so over this franchise. Somebody give Falcon 3.0 a major overhaul.
Believe it or not after playing the beta I miss the controls from KZ2. I miss the way the weapons felt like they had real mass.
Wasn't the big problem with KZ2, so the reviewers claim, the controls? Well, they have fixed them for KZ3 so now its the story reviewers are focussing on.
Honestly, KZ2 had a weak story but was such a fantastic experience.
No, edge use to be a great gaming magazine years ago. They built up their place in the gaming industry.
Paris Hilton is just a self proclaimed media whore that occupies more space than she is worthy of.
I love the comparison to other games at the end of the review. How can you compare run'n'gun zombie nonsense that is black ops against KZ3 multiplayer. They appeal to completely different gamers...casual and hardcore.
Ooops...Activision. My mistake. I replaced one money hungry dev with another.
The following was a series of messages that was intercepted between EA employees. For legal reasons any names have been removed...

Lads, we're running out of money anyone got some bright ideas on how we can fleece a little more out of our loyal followers?
Yeah, how about we modify the COD4 engine to feature space helmets and laser guns?
Sounds like a great idea, should we perhaps spend a little more on testing thi...
Only played a couple of rounds of the beta but so happy to see they kept regional matchmaking. So many games act as though the multiplayer gaming world revolves around the US.
Anyway, the beta is just loads of fun and I still can't believe how they can pump out such incredible visuals in a multiplayer game. Oh yes, the fact that your character casts a shadow and you can look down and see your legs/feet makes it feel like your part of the environment. I hate FPS games w...
I've noticed some very slight dips in the framerate and I've watched it on 2 separate PS3s.
Apart from the new melee attacks and tighter controls what else is new? There does not seem to be any new multiplayer modes (in the beta or that I've heard of).
It may not be perfect but KZ3 is better than many of the multiplatform FPS games yet it scores lower.
If KZ3 is a 3.5 then Black Ops is a 2.75.
Like everything, unless you keep releasing new content it will eventually sit there and just gather dust.
Someone should have asked this question about the PS3Eye when it was first released. That thing was basically dead in the water until Sony released Move.
