Its hard to get excited over a couple of stills from a game thats far from finished. Wow, so the developers can put together some nice looking backdrops however, will the backdrops mean a huge sacrifice in other areas of the game. For instance, will we see dozens of characters walking around (or will it be just the typical 2 or 3 at a time like Gears of War). Will it be another sub 10 hour game?

...Sony had opted to put a standard DVD drive in their PS3 this might be a different story. PS3 would have come out about the same time as the 360 and probably would have outsold the 360 3 to 1. Oh but wait, then we'd have to have games that span multiple DVDs - oh for shame. Mind you, maybe an option to install most of the game content on that 60Gig HDD rather than filling it up with downloaded movie trailers and game demos could have helped out with that.

...point of view you may also correct. However, when Microsoft and Sony started marketing their latest toys some 2 years ago they promised sold a hell of a lot more than a next gen that would deliver the same but with some extra bells and whistles.
Titles like GOW may show a glimmer of "next gen" however, I for one still expect more...which I know we'll eventually see.
...Before you start, I own an Xbox 360 and have played Gears of War but I don't think it really provides a great example of next gen. Ok, the visuals are sharp, however next gen to me is not just about high res texture maps and higher polygon counts. What would make GOW a true next gen title to me?

Developers are not going to write the same game from the ground up for all platforms. Once you accept that you need to ask which platform the game will be written for first as it is quite probable that will be the platform it looks and plays best on also. Just look at the track record so far with 360 to PS3 conversions. Ok, Oblivion may be the exception but look at the delay between the 360 and PS3 releases. Such delays will most likely be the exception and not the norm.

...PS3 launch in NZ was quiet as well. Some stores reported moderate numbers (30-50) but others reported sales of 4-6 units. Big issue in NZ is the price ($1,200NZD) and has kept all but the hardened Sony fans at bay. Only one or two stores have reported as selling out but no indication as to how many units that involved. Retailers are hoping that they will sell out by Monday however, the price again is scaring too many people off.

I used to have a PSP but got sick of the watered down versions of PS2 games that cost just as much to buy.
To me, the PSP needs the following improvements:
- 40 gig (minimum) internal HDD
- Better audio playback options including improved bass.
- Ability to playback full resolution movies without having to hack your PSP or throw in a UMD.
- Second analog stick.
- Better headphone remote.
...if the cool control system on the Wii was being used with something with the power of 360 or PS3. Ok, so there is much fun to be had with the Wii but to me (and remember, this is just my opinion), the Wii serves up the same shallow fun as Eye Toy, Buzz and Singstar. All really fun devices that lack any software with any real depth or graphical wizardry. Just like Eye Toy, Buzz, etc, the Wii will only continue to be fun as long as there are addictive titles that shine on the system.
We still have genetically engineered trees! I was hoping for much more out this gen of hardware. Like trees and objects that were not repeated over and over to fill a scene.
Also, what is the frame rate for this game? It seems far from silky smooth. I hate it when a game slows down as it removes you from the world the game is trying to create.
I own a 360 and love it but I'm afraid MS dropped the ball when they did not put HD-DVD into the 360. Sony's gamble will pay off and Blu-Ray will become the default standard to replace DVD. Ok, so HD / Blu-Ray may not be required for gaming now but in 3 4 years time it probably won't hinder gaming.
If HD-DVD wants to win this race then 2 things need to happen:
1. Windows based PC's should only support HD-DVD
2. A budget HD-DVD player needs to be rele...
What a series of pointless images - are they from in-game or cut scene? And I dont know about you, but if a chopper came down that close to me I would'nt be posing for a picture and looking at the camera.
I have played the multiplayer demo on the xbox 360. Was a lot nicer than the first GRAW (as expected) but controls felt sluggish and whats with all the shadows from trees? They were off putting and looked blocky up close.
I have no problem with the maps costing extra as lets face it, it is extra content which I doubt was free to produce. Bug fixes, patches are still free as I would expect. If you think you're going to get isolated then buy the maps - its as simple as that.
Sick of whiny kids always wanting something for nothing and if they don't get it for nothing then they feel disadvantaged.
