...but multiplayer GOW pretty much sucks. Annex was a great help and the new map pack was great but in the end, still the same old host advantage, laggy crap.
The primary weapon in GOW has to be the most useless example of a machine gun in gaming history. Even with a direct head shot from a couple of meters away enemies walk around as though someone was throwing paper at them. Again, this is probably attributed to the fact that unless you're the host or live right next to th...
...I have enjoyed both Halo games so far (although Halo 2 got a little repetitive by the end) I don't really care about there being a Halo movie - even if Peter Jackson and Weta is associated with it. Taking a game franchise and turning it into a profitable movie has never really worked well in the past so I'm guessing investors are a little gun shy. Hell, PJ is rich enough to fund the entire project himself thanks to LOTR and King Kong so why doesn't he? Same could also be said for Micros...
...I'm rushing out now and buying a PS3 based on this. I am tired of statistics - if the PS3 was all people keep claiming it to be we wouldn't have to be relying on statistics like this to try paint it in a good light.
...lots of fanboys hitting disagree because they think upscaling is all you need. As I said (above) if upsacling is all that was needed why waste time with Blu-Ray...probably because true-HD s**ts all over upscaled anything.
...and they make last gen textures look washed out. Defend this crap all you like but if upscaling was everything it needed to be then why do we need an HD standard with regards to movies?
DVD looks fine upscaled but it does not even begin to compare to HD or Blu-Ray DVD on a 1080p display.
...so now PS3 can claim another feature - software upscaling. But in all honesty, who cares. I did not purchase an HD display to play last gen games. I will continue to use my PS2 and Xbox to play my favorite last gen games on my SD display. My HD display is reserved for HD gaming.
Ok, for all you Sony fanboys that hit disagree...well, if upscaling was all that was needed why should we waste our time with Blu-Ray. Why not just put up with upscaled DVD on an HD display??? ...
...where the PS3 is screaming out for some killer titles to help shift a few consoles, what is served up is yet another demonstration that developers work on one platform and lazily port to another. Mind you, apart from a smooth framerate sounds like the 360 version pretty much sucks also.
I wonder what the architects of the Cell think when they see it being used to churn out such rubbish.
...we all know why the PS3 is not selling - price and lack of games. Cut 40% off the price AND release a few must have games and it will sell. Keep trying to move the PS3 by listing all its tech specs, capabilities, etc and you'll get nowhere.
This is not rocket science - you're not going to convince consumers they have to own a PS3 because of firmware updates or Home.
...about DIRT looking better than Forza 2 and I get 7 people disagreeing with me. Anyway DIRT does look better whether people like it or not. What I'm left wondering is just how much grunt the 360 has under the hood, that is, can it provide the depth, AI, etc of Forza 2 with the visuals of DIRT? The impression you get from the Forza 2 developers is that you cannot...
Final Note: DIRT plays and feels like Rallisport Challenge 2 on the original Xbox and that game was 100% fun...
...why?
Because the graphics are important to me. Forza 2 has the depth of a great driving sim but the graphics are a let down to me. I would have preferred 30fps and richer track and texture detail.
After playing the DIRT demo I'm afraid I'm saving my money for DIRT and giving Forza 2 a miss. I know, I'm shallow - but DIRT looks better on my HD display than Forza 2...and DIRT was fun!!!!
I'm scratching my head over what people are disagreeing w...
...I'm running out and buying a PS3 right now because of this. Hell, why doesn't Sony stick "Atomic Level Caching" on the box so everyday consumers can feel even better about their purchase.
Who cares!!! stop bleating about the hardware and start putting it to good use. Everyone keeps saying its leaps and bounds ahead of the competition (with a price to match) and yet we still don't see it in the games!!!!!!!!!! Stop selling "potential" and start giving u...
...Home will shift millions of PS3 units? I just can't see millions of consumers saying the PS3 is only worth the asking price when Home is released. Granted its another string in the PS3 bow but slash the price of the PS3 by 40% then we're talking mass market appeal.
My first impressions were hell, this looks better than Forza 2 and after playing it for 20 mins I went, damn! the visuals are definitely better!
Only concern is that I noticed some tearing in the graphics on the Germany course.
I have only seen Motorstorm in-store and must say that DIRT holds up pretty well. However, why bother comparing anything else as these are completely different racing games. Kind of like comparing the PGR and Forza franchises.
Lets face it, backward compatibility may be great but playing SD titles (upscaled or not) on an HD display looks crap. I personally hate jaggies so all my last gen games can stay on my SD screen along with my PS2 and Xbox. My HD display is reserved for my 360 only...and for my PS3 when/if I get one.
...whenever there is talk of a 360 FPS exclusive Sony fanboys start talking about how the 360 is all about FPS games and that who would want that. Now we get talk of a PS3 (timed) FPS exclusive and the Sony fanboys are all smiles and cheers.
...MS denied the Elite therefore you could say they mislead the consumer so that it would not effect sales of the premium model. We all know with cars and computers that newer, flasher models are just around the corner.
I for one would have waited for the Elite if it had been officially announced when the rumors started to surface however, MS shot them down. So, I went out and got the premium and guess what - I'm screwed as MS is offering nothing in the way of a deal for me...
..but how many bundle deals will you see for the PS3 where Singstar is packaged and priced to sell to the masses like it was on the PS2. Yes, such bundle deals will eventually come but in the next 12 months????
There is nothing wrong with the PS3 and Singstar PS3 looks like fun - but is the target audience there for it given the current price point of the PS3?
...if Sony is only aiming at HD consumers then bye-bye Sony. HD consumers are the minority and will be for quite some time. By the time that situating changes who knows what the HDMI standard will be or which disc format we'll all be using, let alone how much a stand alone player will cost (PS3 will soon be a more expensive option on the block in that regard as well!). If HD-DVD wins the war then you can certainly throw the 10 year shelf life of the PS3 out the window.
...all the tech specs and features you like. The average Joe consumer aint interested and all they see is the $1,200 (NZD) price tag. As for future proofing, if the PS3 does not start selling in agreeable numbers by this time next year you can kiss the 10 year lifespan out the window. The PS3 needs both good quaility games and a significant price drop. However, keep in mind that no matter what Sony does with its price the 360 will always undercut it. The complete reverse of the previous ...
...as there seems to be so much discussion and debate about how to tranform the PS3 into a success. Maybe they should try something simple like releasing some killers games and cutting the price by 40%. Give consumers a reason to buy rather than trying to pursude them to by by listing all the tech specs and capabilities.
