While I see your sentiment, I do think having another premium option for a console other than PlayStation is just a consumer necessity.
What I don't want to see is the next generation being dragged down by something like the "Low-End" spec like S. Developers almost as a whole simply hated developing for S. Sure it made the optimization aspect of the job more sensible.

Waiting on sales is a good way to go. I mostly buy the games on PC, but for console exclusives I'm interested in I'll get'em on PS5 when they come out. Last one I got on release was MGS Delta I think. I have no interest in Yotei sadly.
Next new releases I'm getting are 007, GTA6 and Wolverine.

These situations are double edged swords; On one hand, EA will now be trying to appease a smaller amount of stakeholders. This will allow for more "efficient" development. Shorter focus testing. Etc.
On the other hand, they will be trying to appease specific special interests. That means if you thought censorship was bad previously, it may get worse (or better, but who are we kidding here)
