Interesting that Nintendo spent $370 million on R&D in 2007 -- more than the entire Wii research cycle combined. They must have spent that money on somthing good, not just the motion plus peripheral.
An Xbox 360 slim would be sick! Now there's a console in need of an aesthetic overhaul...
Well, the PS2 slimline was introduced at basically the same price as the original PS2 hardware, which was subsequently lowered. I would expect the exact same pattern to happen here: PS3 Slim at 399, with the original gradually phased out and discounted to $299 or something.
But it is true that believing a PS3 Slim would somehow be the CHEAPER option is totally delusional.

Microsoft? Too Greedy? Never!
The PS2 had virtual total market dominance. Microsoft's Xbox was a late comer, and not a particularly strong competitor. In this generation, I don't think that a "10 year plan" is a particularly smart outlook. Since they face so much competition, they should be more focused on the "here and now" in order to fight off incremental gains by Microsoft and even Nintendo.

I think the point of this article is that "10 Year Plan" for Jack Tretton means he won't drop the price no matter hom much pressure, because he is looking at a longer time frame for success.
On one hand, the poor economy means that current-gen hardware MIGHT just last on the market for 10 years. On the other hand, if Sony contintues to sacrifice immediate sales by keeping their price too high, the effect after 10 years will be that they are in a weaker position vis a vis marketshare.
Fast and flexible seems like a better strategy than long and arduous.

This article is hilarious. Most of the points are just making fun of the whole hype surrounding NAtal and motion controllers in general. PLus, the PS3 controller looks like a penis.

They used to say that a console would die without a robust third-party support. Not sure if this is still true, but the poor sales/quality of some multiplatform games is definitely a troubling issue for Sony.

Personally, with the $250 I will save by not buying a PSP Go, I will probably buy an Xbox 360 and some games!
I have a PSP 1000 with a 4-gb memory stick that works perfectly well and will even run all of the downloadable content that the Go can.
