@Skateboard: I agree whole heartedly! Not only is Sony now making money on the ps3, but they are currently taking loses on the psVita. An announcement of ps4 could have a very negative effect and slow sales of the ps3 prematurely before its time... As we've seen with nintendo's stock, the announcement of new hardware can actually reduce the value if stockholders feel that the companies future plans aren't heading in the right directions completely
19bn is good but not for an entire company as big as Sony! They have exponential costs going out and I'm sure Kaz is going to announce some extreme cost cutting measures that need to be taken to turn this ship around...
@Droid Control: GC wasn't the success that Nintendo wanted it to be because it really didn't offer anything different game play wise and the Wii did... Everyone knows that Nintendo took GC tech and just overclocked it to get more performance. But the Wii had far more support from 3rd party companies than GC ever did, it just didn't see the exact same type of games that 360/ps3 saw. Nintendo clearly went after a new market share and 3rd parties jumped on the opportunity to cash in ...
Nintendo has come a long way! There is always room for improvement but so far I do like what I'm seeing. I'm wondering if at e3, they'll plan on announcing a partnership with EA games to have OnLive on the console or maybe something like a huge MMO franchise announcement of World of Warcraft proportions would be amazing for their online network unveiling
just wow! "Nintendo never takes any risk..." So I guess motion controls with the Wii and a tablet controller with the Wiiu were just very obvious and safe choices for Nintendo when thinking about their next generation consoles? As I stated above as well, you bash Nintendo for using their franchises but yet Sony has made 3 iterations of Uncharted this generation alone! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black... Oh yeah and the specs for the Wiiu haven't been full unveiled yet...

$300 is a perfect price point for Nintendo on this system, because I don't think the HD twins will drop much in price when the Wiiu launches. And the delusions really need to stop with thinking that ps4 &720 will increase as much visually as the gap was between the Wii to 360/Ps3! The fact of the matter is that Nintendo is an enigma! When in many other circumstance, a company in the positions that they've been found in would have folded up shop. But this company always seems to find new ways in reinventing themselve to stay relevant with the changing industry. Not saying that its to everyones liking but they've done what's needed to survive against much larger competition...
In my opinion this next generation is gearing up technically to be like the ps2/GC/Xbox era of gaming. Each system was different, with one being more powerful than the next. But it didn't stop each from having its very own gaming experiences that may have been similar across each 3 consoles. Or the fact that the GC being technically superior to ps2 produced Resident Evil 4, but that didn't stop ps2 from getting the game as well!
well I hate to disappoint the gearhead people just looking for the next tech junkie fix, but you will not receive such a grand graphical or processing magnitude with the ps4/720! Ps3's CELL chip equals the second coming of God and can do realtime raytracing, while producing graphics better than that of Toy Story 2. So no system ever will be able to surpass its power, as Sony truly made it future proof! (extreme, extreme sarcasm here!) just trying to channel all of the fanboys at once, to share some of the delusions with the rest of you all...
I hate to tell you, but they all just want money! That's why they are in business for... You would be very naive to think that either Sony or Microsoft created consoles because they care about you for some reason
They need to cut their losses with the electronics division and refocus their energies on the brands that butter their bread... People may not like it but there's money to be made and Sony does have lucrative gaming franchises and development houses. If some of those end up going multiplatform next-gen it wouldn't surprise me. For a company that's current worth is 20bn and they announce that they now expect to double their losses to 6+bn is not good. I can see Sony riding the ps3 ...
