Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have all said they will continue to support their current consoles. Support to me means they will continue to manufacture them, but I highly doubt they see much in the way of first party support after their collective successors have been released.

Third parties will no doubt still take advantage of large install bases and produce games. We'll probably see Madden 16 and Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is a good idea, the game was pretty well done, its a shame that it didn't sell better. I had fun with it, but the community is all but dead right now, so hopefully this gets some new players.

I think the PS3/Vita combo has the same issues Smartglass for Microsoft has. Its not something packed into every console, so developers aren't going to really take advantage of it. If you look at games like ZombiU and Rayman legends, those games require use of the Gamepad, just like New Super Mario Bro's U.

I don't think a developer is going to take a risk and implement a requirement for PS3/Vita or Xbox/Smartglass. It'd be foolish to limit yourself in such a...

Usually when people come out with a "something killer", the killer app has to be pretty big. Borderlands is a good game, and the sequel is excellent so far, but the games would have to hit 7, 8 or 9 million to be in the category that even warrants a "killer" in my opinion.

No, the Xbox 360 sold around 3 million units in the first 90 days. If you didn't pre-order one, you couldn't find one until deep in 2006.

Nintendo is releasing the first next gen console, of course its going to be the hot thing. I think Sony and Microsoft will actually do okay this holiday, mostly because some people aren't going to be able to find a Wii U and will have to settle for Xbox 360 or PS3 instead.

Bundles and deals on Black Friday should help the other two as well, but its just foolish to think six+ year old hardware is going to compete with something new.

My local game store which is called Gamer's Edge runs arcade tournaments every month. You get the high score and you win something, they gave away a PS3, Xbox 360/Kinect and a Wii. I came in second on the Frogger tourney.

I have even entered Smash Bro's tournaments, so I think for the most part games are games and gamer's are gamer's.

I don't even like most of the zombie maps on the game, plus I think people buy the Treyarch games just for Zombies, so they'd lose that bit of people. Th only zombie map I've really enjoyed was Call Of The Dead, I played that nonstop with my friends.

I love the COD campaigns, they are usually fun and really good. I didn't mind the BO one though, but it was a bit here and there, the new one looks a lot better as far as campaigns go.

This is a Sony fan site, people post these articles because it'll get the Sony fans on this site in an uproar, they'll click on the article and give the site hits and most of the time it'll get the article and the site on the front page.

I think right now 4 of the top 5 pages up front are Sony related.

Why would someone want to make a two thin Call Of Duty games? I find that Zombies gives the Treyarch COD games a lot of extra content, there is a little something for everyone.

What exactly is "hardcore"? I mean I play all kinds of games, even game competitively, but I also enjoy handheld, phone and even some Facebook style games. I guess I'm softcore? or casual? lol

I hate all the labels people try and pin on everyone, I always look at gamer's as gamer's.

This is the tail end of this console generation, next generation is kicking off this November, the PS3 has piqued with the core group Sony was after. This slim is intended to draw families and casuals to the PS3, Sony wants the console to continue to sell after they release their next console. In order to do this, they need it to appeal to families, the new slim has a plastic and kind of sturdy look, so that will probably appeal to the new demo they are after, but the numbers wont be huge. <...

Nintendo had a great idea, the motion controls and cheaper price point were pure genius, but I think Nintendo underestimated how fast people would adopt HDTV's. When the Wii launched in 2006 only 15% of homes had an HDTV, now its around 50%, and those people want a console that takes advantage of that.

I don't think Nintendo really lost ground though, they just reached market saturation. After selling almost 100 million Wii's, who was left to buy one?

I agree, Smartglass looks interesting, but the Wii U has a Gamepad packed with every console. I wouldn't doubt if its successful that we'd see a Microsoft branded add-on tablet/controller. Rumors and a patent of that have been around for over a year.

Should have been Xbox brand to begin with, they will only continue to grow their brand and next generation they will be in a really great situation with Xbox branded moves, music and games.

I like how they aren't limiting themselves to the "video game" label, sort of what Nintendo did back in the 1980's with the Nintendo Entertainment System. I think Microsoft realizes that if you try and market strictly a video game machine, you wont do well. Core gamer...

Well probably all of those things, but they should focus on fun as well. A lot of this generations games have played more like movies and you don't really have many choices or options.

Honestly, this is the only generation where I feel like gaming is like a chore at times. I have a Gamefly account and I'm like "Ughhh, I gotta play this game". Games have lost a lot of the fun factor, so I'm hoping developers realize games are about more then physics and ...

We need new hardware, and software. These numbers are kinda sad.

Already pre-ordered it, so yes.

If they support it with content like they did with Forza 3 and Forza 4, that is a great deal! There is new content on Forza 4 every other week.

This PS3 is probably the same price, or its being bundled with games, which makes sense. I highly doubt Sony or Microsoft expected to match what Nintendo is going to do this holiday with the Wii U. New hardware is always a quick sell from a retail standpoint.

Sony and Microsoft will offer bundles and we'll see deals on Black Friday per usual, but they don't have to go out of their way to "compete" with the Wii U. Wii U is going to be a hard to find item and ...
