Looking at another real life interactive drama: Heavy Rain. Honestly the best parts were where the action picked up. Going piss and doing homework with your kid were essential for character development, but a larger slice of the game devoted to that would have dragged things down.

This is mostly a negative title, spun for hits with an obscure reference to DCUO (which Hilary is co-reviewing and he doesn't care for MMOs). Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

It's being done by Hilary, who is one of the side-reviewers of the game. Before his DCUO review comes out. It just sounds like a precursor of what's to come, really.

Oh, and he admits in his DCUO pre-review that he has never been into MMOs.

Awesome! They should hire me to review FPSes, which I loathe. I'm bound to give an impartial opinion.

Games journalism is borked.

DCUO will get a 7-8 from them, which is an in...

I don't care for Rift at all, but having been in four betas, I'm telling you this is precisely the sort of game that would appeal to a WoW fan.

People need to stop comparing it to the Aion/ AoC/ WAR exodus>return. Those games were broken out of the gate in so many ways. Rift is really, really polished. It has no appeal for me, as I'm not into WoW, but I can see this taking a portion of Blizzards subs. Also worth noting is that just because you have years of ...

That's why the subscribers left.

the game is basically a WoW clone - a good one - prettier and with a more versatile class system. Pair that up with the current, disgruntled WoW casual community and they'll definitely siphon off some subs.

I have no interest in Rift or WoW, but I think that this game will do well and definitely capture a portion of WoW's user base.

Dark, but still vibrant. And the action looks great on screen.

then act as if you haven't seen the stories that debunk your crazy theories. When turning on a PS3, all sorts of discreet information is sent to various servers. Not logging onto PSN, JUST TURNING IT ON.

There was a story about this just the other day.

They know exactly who is using what (read the article and...

(Just d/l'd and watched it.) If there's one Tales that deserves localization, it's this. The plot - what I can construe of it - seems a bit darker and more "mature". Maybe the dullards at Namco are actually considering a U.S. release for this.

and I'm definitely into fantasy more than super heroes or "modern day" settings, but I adore this game. Make of that what you will. There's just so many options on how to play and shape your toon that it's addictive.

Than standard point and click MMO fare.

It was a bit of an adjustment for a friend of mine who is a long time WoW player, but he's having a blast once he adapted to it.

Digital is fine if you have the bandwidth and the cash. It's a valid option that some people - like me - enjoy. Different strokes for different folks.

my disc-drive is full with DCUO for the foreseeable future, and a digital version has a delightful convenience to it! Throw in a PS+ discount and I'll probably impulse buy it for sure.

Let's get more day and date retail games on the PSN please.

They'd have nothing to troll about!

The PS3 version is one of the FEW (possibly only) retail MMOs that I can think of off the top of my head, where you CAN trade it in or give it to a friend after the 30 days are up. The person who inherits it won't get the free time, but they get the physical game. In almost every other case, there is a code that locks that particular software installation to the account of the person who first uses it. Doesn't seem to be the case with DCUO. You aren't aware of this because as usu...

That the game requires a sub and comes with 30 days free. And lol at all the trolls QQing about a game that they'll never play. Btw the game had a rather successful launch, servers were full last night and it's a blast to play. Shame that the hatrers gotta hate.

And they're doing it for about $5 a pop. Make of that what you will, but it's definitely consumer friendly.

- game world is huge.
- so many collectibles
- achievements actually MEAN something, at lvl cap you trade points for extra skills.
- great cusomization. You can change your palette and gear at any time. You can change gear without changing your style (look).
- you can go anywhere on the map right off the bat. No invisible walls or tiered movement bs.
- combat if fun. Think 3rd person action RPG.
- very story driven.
- voice acting for ev...

At least I'm my server. Heroes were collecting all the bounties and while both sides were populated, I saw a lot of heroes.

Circe, while unpopular is the most entertaining mentor, simply by virtue of being so damn manaical! She's as nutty as the Joker.

Edit: @ below. Yeah and she's just plain EVIL! Which is what you really want if playing a villain. Lex has a masculinity/ inferiority complex, The Joker is just crazy, but Circe is an evil Goddess ...

Only people having issues are Austrailians (whose codes dont work as they're region isn't allowed yet), Singapore and a couple places in Asia and people Hell bent on using wifi for MMOs. It might be ok for multiplayer console games, but anyone playing MMOs needs a dedicated connection.

Great launch, all in all. Game is ridiculously fun.

But his selection only included the highest rated games (LO and BD, both good games). 360 hasn't had a JRPG exclusive since September 2009. PS3 has had several with more in the pipeline this year, plus all the western RPG multiplats. So for sheer volume of RPGs, PS3 has taken the cake this gen.

I don't see that changing with MS' focus on Kinect AND still throwing the core audience a bone now and again.
