I'm not saying that every game has to be Shakespeare. It would just be nice if we saw some more mature elements in SOME games and their stories.

I like books AND video-games. Is that concept difficult for you to grasp? The two are not mutually exclusive. Most of the people who make these games or review them ARE adults, probably in their 30s with children and mortgages and the lot. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask games to mature with their audience (and...

I generally lean toward fantasy stuff, but I'll take a good RPG wherever I can get it.

Anachronox, Planescape (where's the HD/ remake of THAT game), even the old D&D PC games are all favorites of mine.

Edit: The dialog and delivery is just lacking for me. It's not up to the standard that readers or people seriously interested in stories can enjoy. You're also talking about an obscure reference (Jacob thing) that most people who play the ga...

for DLC exclusivity contract (was it for 10 years? I don't recall), that's probably not going to happen.

but I don't find ME: 2 (on any platform) all that groundbreaking. Visually, it's standard Unreal Engine. Very polished, I'll give it that.

Where the series falls apart for me, is in the narrative. Sentient machines... bent on destroying all life... To anyone who has read sci-fi literature with any depth (Ian M. Banks, Asimov) the story is juvenile. And the dialog, while extensive, is mostly superfluous and basely written (I found the dialog in Dragon Age far m...

They didn't sell 22K. That was the #20 chart sales. FFXIII Greatest Sh!ts clocked in at #39. Right up there with Poupee Girl: Magical Shopping Adventure for the DS (that's not the exact name, but it IS a real game - wtf). XIII came in around 5K, estimates on NeoGaf say.

P.S. Anyone here who has hopes for FF XIV turning into a playable game at some point can log into their SE account and do a new user feedback poll. At least the abysmal failure of that game has ma...

20 + internal studios.

Sure blu-ray helps, but a select few 3rd party devs make use of it (though this is changing, somewhat).

But when you have 20+ studios cranking out 1-2 games each per year, THAT'S where the exclusives come from. Sony has always been a slow burner. Anyone remember the PS2 is doomed/ has no games articles? Yeah, been there before.

At it's time it was spectacular, AND it has withstood the test of time and is still spectacular today. Your comprehension needs work, there's nothing contradictory about what I said.

There are lots of great games that can claim this, across a variety of systems - Chrono Cross, Super Mario, Shenmue. They were brilliant in yesteryear and they're brilliant today.

I mean the game is alright, certainly not terrible, but with the tech, development solutions available and other games released in 2010, it's hardly GOTY.

And as someone (a bit crassly) below pointed out, he's just doing this for hits. I admit, I gave him one, as I like to read his ridiculous straw-man arguments, which have no basis in reality whatsoever.

For it's time, ICO was a masterpiece. There's nothing else like it in 2001 (maybe a few things on the PC, but nothing in the console space).

Looking back as a jaded journalist with attention seeking issues, I guess you can find flaws.

To the rest of us, it's stood the test of time as a real piece of video-game art (will be picking up the HD version).

If they wait too long to launch the PS3 version - their saving grace really - TERA, GW2 and (possibly) RIFT will all have the lime-light then.

If this game comes out any later than May/ June, I'm not even going to bother with it. Pretty sure I'm not alone in that opinion.

I do like the fact that subs are $10 though; that's a step in the right direction that ALL MMORPGs should be headed in to compete with WoW. People love certain games, but they...

with some unique features (Rifts, class combos) of it's own. You can tell though, that they're aiming to make a WoW player's transition to Rift as smooth as possible. Make of that what you will. I won't be playing it, as I'm finally off WoW and all it's iterations/ imitations for life now, but it's a rather polished MMO with some robust character design options (class, not vanity - they need more hairstyles and such).

Fun game, if you're int...

The developers were involved in a battle with Tim Langdell (spelling) the "Edge" trademark troll and I haven't heard anything about the game in over a year. It looked really, really promising.

Development stalled, but was resumed. It still has a website too.

We haven't had a proper steam-punk game in ages. I'm dying...

The article is clearly about FFXIII - it even has the game's logo.

but I find (personal opinion) Nathon Fillion is a bit of an average actor fueled to greatness by his incredibly supportive fanbase. He's had success with Firefly, which has given him a certain cult status.

There are plenty of talented male actors who can play Drake. Neither Marky M. or Nathon Fillion are ideal, if you want to do justice to the source material. Fillion is just too campy for Hollywood or "serious" roles.

Whatever they put out...

None of these Kinect "hacks" have been shown to work on retail 360 units. They're all being done on PCs, likely on machines several orders of magnitude greater in power than a 360 (5 year old proprietary tech).

You don't need to be an "expert" to see that these hacks are running on PCs, it's in all the videos for Christ sakes.

where resources (RAM, CPU, Standard HDD) are several times more powerful than 360 hardware. Also note that PCs are open architecture, whereas consoles are not. Until I see any of these "hacks" running on actual 360 hardware, they're just curiosities, not realities.

When MS brings Kinect to the PC (which is inevitable), we might see some cool stuff. Still, the gap between what is possible on the 360 w/ Kinect and a PC w/ Kinect will always be vast.

as much as it has all this "new paint" smell now, that will wear off soon and all you're left with is a boring end-game grindfest. They've made these cycles even shorter too. You used to be able to keep your gear for at least 1/2 a year, or longer. At present, the stats are so bloated and ridiculous that a piece of gear is outclassed in 2-3 months (every sizable patch).

Gear > instance/ raid, rinse and repeat. That might be fun for some, but it's...

At present, I'm not convinced for several reasons.

A.) MS don't give a crap about JRPGs. Last exclusive was Magna Carta 2 in 2009. Not a single one released or on the horizon since. By contrast the PS3 had several exclusive JRPGs in 2010 and has even more in 2011. Developers have shifted to the PS3 for this genre.

B.) JRPGs don't really fit with the MS 2011 portfolio. Their focus will be on Kinect and a the requisite "core" shooters...
