Complete misinformation. Even older MMOs charge you for the basic software - AoC, WAR, WoW - and it is tied forever to your account. "Cheap" is a matter of personal opinion, but it's certainly not free (free to play MMOs are another issue entirely). This is the MMO standard. To be honest I was surprised that DCUO didn't operate this way.
Regardless, I've had a rather dire family situation come up and have no time for MMOs, so I traded it in at Blockbus...
off the Japanese PSN - had it for months now. What an incredible year for JRPGs, THREE within weeks of each other! (Ar Tonelico, Trinty: SoZO, Hyperdimension N)
Thank God for the Japanese dub being included on 2/3 of those (don't know about Trinity, as it's still in the mail).
They can still be issued, just not at present. Does Luke Plunkett even read his source material? He's one of the sloppiest journalists I've ever seen. Like a drunk at a carnival.
Here's a less drunken-fanboy written article.

Still an ATV app store will be 99% shovelware, 1% decent software just like it is now. No threat to "core" games really, but definitely a play for casual dollars. If they get some decent studio support - Konami, Capcom, Bioware - things could get real interesting.
I'm not a member of the cult of Jobs myself. I have one of their products (iPhone), but don't drink the Kool-aid and I loathe the utterly controlled API and counter-intuitive intuiting that Apple s...
46 games vs 21 (Sony: MS). I'd hope that MS would have a higher average, as they have a smaller pool of exclusives to draw from.
Metacritic isn't totally arbitrary either. They use WEIGHTED scores. Meaning certain sites IGN, Kotaku, 1UP have scores that influence the metacritic scale more heavily than other sites. So it's not just some fair conglomerate of reviews, it's slanted.
P.S. There was an earlier article where they took the "top...
96 were the dev kits. Retail models have less.
They keep releasing batch of content after content. I wish they'd hurry the F up and get the English localization over here.
so it couldn't have been done on the PS2. PS3 has Hyperdimension Neptunia, Trinity: SOZO, and Ar Tonelico the first quarter of the year (and about 3 or so every quarter after that), so I'd disagree that making JRPGs is "prohibitive" on HD systems. 360 and the Wii are the only systems with waning JRPG publisher and consumer interest (except for multi-plats on the 360 - there's nothing exclusive in that genre, nothing at all).
It also takes many, many year...
That doesn't mean that this is a bad game though. I played the same demo (both actually) and enjoyed them immensely. Different strokes for different folks.
And the reviewers major gripe is that it's a PS2ish JRPG. Well sign me up, that sounds awesome. Already have it back-ordered at Amazon.
This one should be F2P already. Too many other decent subscription games out and in the pipeline. It's an embrassment to WAR. Even RIFT has better (and coined from WAR) PVP, and that's all WAR had to call it's own.
Arm based, NON-HARDWARE SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENT ACROSS ANY MOBILE DEVICE USING THE PLAYSTATION BRAND. If Sony pulls this off, it'll be the biggest game-related development in mobile space, NGP or not. That said, the NGP will provide both bite sized and console-like content. It's not JUST about technological muscle, Sony are totally pushing a software experience and the NGP is just a part of that. Sort of like the PS3 and blu-ray, if not even bigger in the scope of long-term impact.
Trinity: ZO (game looks awesome, check it out), Legend of Heroes, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Dark Souls, Dungeon Siege 2, Skyrim Dragon Age 2, RIFT (need something to play on my laptop, spending a lot of time away from home this year), Guild Wars 2. Between my PSP back catalog (20ish JRPGs) and the MMOs, I should have a full year.
I'll probably wait to pick up the WRPGs till GOTY editions or they have a sale. The JRPGs I need to support with my $, as they're more endang...
And at the risk of committing blasphemy, I actually think it's better in some ways. Sure the story isn't exceptional, but it moves forward - so much in Oblivion just stands and waits for you to execute it, there's very little impetus to that game.
Oh, and the spells, environments and customization are all rather brilliant. Love this game.
Symptoms of egoism, self-absorption and self-esteem issues, if you did.
A lot of sites are far more credible than NG (and that's not saying much in the industry). They're (NG) the only ones that have to prove their legitimacy in this instance, and they haven't, not with any concrete: "fact and not open to interpretation or dispute." (quote, from the article)
Every other site has claimed an 8 hourish campaign, so here the NowGamer reviewer is the odd man out. Clearly their review and subsequent KZ3 articles have drummed up enough hits to inspire this.
Disclaimer: I have little to no interest in FPS, the success of this title means little to my interests and I will probably pick this up once it's a sun $30 Greatest Hits title. That said, there's no excuse for shoddy journalism and pedantic, as$hat articles.
This review is garbage. The game is pretty fun. Neat combat, lots of customization. Have no idea what they're going on about. I guess all their PS3 vs 360 articles haven't been drumming up enough heat. Time for a Jim Sterling style review, I guess.
I'm actually more excited to see what they put out for the portables - 3DS, NGP. Handheld projects have for the most part been solid. Would be nice if Agito got shifted to the NGP or FFVI on either next gen portable. Their console games - developed or published under the SE label - have been disappointing this gen (except for Nier, which I adored - but that was Cavia's genius, not SE's). XIII was not a terrible game, but it wasn't extraordinary either. The only "wow&quo...
Can't wait!
it will be the same situation. Full PC retail price and tied forever to an account. Do you have any idea how MMOs work? I'm thinking "no". If you want a FREE console MMO, grab White Knight Chronicles. Or Kingdom Under Fire 2 when it comes out.
I do like how you're trying to spin this story as some sort of sordid exposé, when it's really just the MMO standard and has been for years. Console gamers just aren't educated on these issues. It would ...
