For someone who might only play Call of Duty Cold War, PS+ or Xbox Live Gold are nothing but MP subs. But dump lump the stellar monthly line up from PS+ into the same crap basket as Xbox Live Gold. Microsoft has all but said they are planning to kill Xbox Live Gold and push everyone onto Game Pass Ultimate for $15/month.
I’m skeptical that such an expensive screen would be in a $300 device.
Nice thing about PS+ (or Games with Gold if the games weren’t all turds) is that you get to play the game so long as you are subscribing to PS+. I can download Lego Marvel Superheroes that I got from PS+ in 2014 and still play it.
Oh what a sad lineup for people paying $5 a month.
This 100% true.
No, Erica is a middling 6/10 at best. Interesting interactive elements. Awful story and scenes.
Microsoft has wanted to kill offline games since E3 in 2013. They couldn’t do it overtly, so they are doing it the sneaky way. They want to own the entire ecosystem.
Don Mattrick says if you want offline games, you can always play then on your Xbox 360.
No to 5v5.
Exclusivity will be wholly dependent on marketshare. $7.5B is a lot to spend on a carrot to sell Game Pass. We’re seeing the same with streaming versus theatrical releases. Netflix has enough subscribers to skip theaters. HBO Max does not. If Game Pass becomes a Netflix, then PS5 players will be shut out.
This right here. I made it through Sony’s lottery for the pre-order queue and bought my PS5 direct from PlayStation. No bought could snag it first. The other retailers can do the same through their customer accounts.
Now is the worst time to buy accessories. We are still seeing higher demand from the pandemic and the effects for the chip shortages. If you can wait, wait until later this year when things return to normal.
The Xbox 360 didn’t start with a strong position. Microsoft had low marketshare and launched the 360 with a weak lineup. What really helped was a year later when the PS3 launched at an insanely high price and then in 2007 when Halo 3 dropped.
After the Switch shortages and now the Xbox and PS5 shortages, the teaching is clear: if you build more consoles, you will sell more consoles.
I’ve been buying these kinds of things for over 3 decades. You might save a few hundred now (or one hundred versus the PS5 digital) but you’ll regret it later. This buying advice from the tech media comes from people who have access to all consoles and a gaming PC. They wouldn’t make this decision for themselves and neither should you.
“business priorities”
WTF?
Not much of a sales pitch.
Kill Pokémon with bullets. I dig it.
And I would buy PSVR2 and get motion sickness for it.
“smear campaign”? Is this satire?
