“Like RE8 which had only 20% of its sales on Xbox vs 80% on PlayStation, Dark Alliance 10% on Xbox, Necromunda 25% on Xbox, Cris Tales 4% on Xbox with 54% on Switch and 37% on PlayStation.”
This should depress Xbox owners who like 3rd party games. Being the minority console is one thing. Being the minority console where people don’t buy 3rd party games is another. Which console will get the most support from developers?
I want Metro Exodus PS5 for $10 but I have serious fears of it going “free” on PS+.
Microsoft could have bet bigger on Xbox. Demand shows that they would have sold more units. But Sony could have bet bigger too. I really believe that with both consoles offering backwards compatibility at launch, we’ll see more lock-in with ecosystems now than we ever have before. That means we won’t see marketshare move much this generation regardless of the supply issues we are seeing now.
The PS5 is hard to get because demand is much greater than supply. I don’t see this as a problem with the Steam Deck when you can also play Steam games on the go with a laptop.
Some games 90s era arena shooters did have customizable characters. Dark Forces 2 let players choose different force powers, light or dark side. Some games and game modes let players start with different weapons.
But Is it 24 hours long?
I’m assuming one of the iPhone models is no.1.
I’ve played a few PS4 games since the PS5 launched but mostly I play new games or PS5 versions of old games. Even the PS4 versions I play have been optimized for PS5. The oldest, chunkiest game I’ve played on PS5 is Fallout 4, and the load times were amazing. It’s so easy to never look back.
The Nintendo DS was more successful and yet Nintendo fans and gaming as a whole were fine. The real issue is that fans like to root for underdogs and Nintendo is no longer an underdog.
Control has a PS5 version. It was “free” with PS+ in February.
I play all games on easy mode or story mode at a first play through. Having playing like this over the years, I’ve come to the conclusion that difficulty options are completely unnecessary and that the Kirby series has it right. We need less difficulty options and more games tuned to a specific difficulty where it’s balanced between challenging and rewarding. No more bullet sponges, only enemies you can suck into Kirby’s mouth and then take their powers.
Switch is the only mobile game console on the market (other than billions of smart phones and tablets). Remember how well the Nintendo DS sold? The Switch is basically a modern version of that. The Switch Lite is really great for sales because it’s cheap enough that everyone in the family can have one.
Halo. The Xbox had minimal storage, no Blu-Ray drive, and charged $5/month for multi-player. The PS3 (especially the slim) was the better console overall. But Xbox had Halo and Halo 3 has the best campaign of any shooter and the best multiplayer at the time.
I get Phil Spencer 100%. He works for a giant corporation. Whatever is good for the giant corporation at the time, that’s what he’ll say. If Xbox ever becomes the dominant console, Phil will talk about how cross play is bad for Xbox players.
Just a friendly reminder that PS+ is 1/3 the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
If Starfield is good (like Skyrim, not Fallout 4) and I can upgrade my internet to fiber with no data caps, then I’ll spend $15 for one month of Xbox Game Pass and play it that way.
You can also order a 2nd PS5 from Sony in the United States. I just got a random e-mail from them. Didn’t have to apply like I did with launch PS5.
For Xbox fans, I hope this isn’t the the most promising year. Only 1 worthwhile exclusive since the launch of the Xbox and it doesn’t have a fixed release date yet. Microsoft can do better. Just look at 2007!
Isn’t every new version of Windows is the best Windows ever for gaming?
Burnout Takedown is my favorite racing game of all time. My wife was addicted to crash mode.
