“that money couldve bought them so much more than just destiny”
And it has. When Destiny released, it did Halo better than Halo on the Xbox One. Bungie has unique talent to make fun shooters with fantastic art and great music. We might not see any new IP from this for years, maybe not until the PS6. Sony is patient in a way that other publishers are not.
Do people really believe everything in a press release? There is no mystery here. Microsoft bought up almost all the shooters. Reasonably clear what Sony needed to do.
MS said they would honor existing agreements. Sony had a deal with Activision for CoD and maybe other games. But when that deal is up, MS is free to make those games exclusive. Same thing happened with Bethesda and Deathloop on PS5.
Don’t get too excited by "multiplatform" support just yet. Bungie is bound by existing contracts for multiple platforms line Stadia, Game Pass, and Steam. We should be curious about Sony’s version of Game Pass and whether it will be available on PC. That will tell us a lot about Sony‘s plans for Bungie.
Sony doesn’t have the cash to buy up monsters like Activision. They are selectively building up their exclusives in response to Microsoft.
According to Steam Charts, Halo Infinite is old news on PC. But Halo is ingrained in Xbox not just in audience but also with the marketing that Microsoft can deliver through Xbox.
Remember when Cyberpunk 2077 should have been dope? I’ll believe it when the reviews come out.
Biggest means most sales except for mobile game sales. We don’t talk about mobile.
We know PS5 and Switch will have a great year. Not so sure about Xbox. Starfield might not release this year and also might be a disappointment like most of Bethesda’s games last gen. I’ll believe Starfield is real and good after the reviews.
“WHY do people think this thing is competing with Switch!?”
Because if you want to play games on a portable handheld, and you’ve decided that your existing phone or tablet is insufficient, then the the Switch and Steam Deck are your only choices. What you are talking about is marketshare. Many PC players are already chose the Switch. If Valve wants to own the handheld space (ignoring the dominance of phones and tablets), they need to win back marketshare from Nintendo.
Nothing has changed, despite the click bait headline. I’m the UK, Xbox will stop auto-billing a lapsed account. In the rest of the world, make sure you check your credit card statements.
Coming soon.net is basically arguing that developers should upgrade games for free.
This is Microsoft’s power in the gaming biz. Windows and Office are solid money makers. Microsoft can use those profits to buy up any gaming company it wants and keep dumping money into GamePass to build marketshare.
Does Xbox have Achievement stats like PlayStation trophy stats? Can we see how many downloaded and tried for “free” versus how many played past the first mission?
Indeed. If you look at portable gaming, phones are #1 and tablets are #2. If you are going to look at home console marketshare, you have to split the difference for the Switch, especially since the Switch Lite can’t be docked.
Marvel’s Avengers is a buggy, poorly thought out mess that is made to sell micro transactions. It really should be free-to-play. The kicker is that the game is actually fun to play, though I’m a long time Marvel fan so I’m probably biased. I just hope Square Enix doesn’t pull the plug before the end of the year.
Facts. Sony sold more consoles than Microsoft in 2021. Sony sold more higher priced consoles. Sony sold more games. Sony released more exclusives. The only thing Sony didn’t have is subscribers paying $10-$15 a month, but Sony did have more PS+ subscribers than Xbox had Xbox Live subscribers.
Have you seen the frame rates for Halo Infinite on Xbox One S? Microsoft has left the Xbox One S behind.
Ahem. “Microsoft actually ended production of the Xbox One X and the all-digital Xbox One S in July 2020”.
