The first game started great. You were on this beautiful resort island fighting zombies in flip flops. Then it moved to the slums, the sewers, a prison, and prison sewers. The first basically devolved into the worst tropes of zombies video games. If all of Dead Island 2 can be as good as the beginning of Dead Island, it will be a winner.
The struggle is real.
MS wouldn’t buy Ubisoft. They’d have too many games that compete with each other. Sony wouldn’t now that they have Bungie. Maybe EA or one of them Chinese companies.
Reddit is it’s own kind of toxic culture because there is the pretense that upvotes spread valuable information.
Do you know how many people work at Hello Games?
I’m just happy see some low numbers in review scores. Review scores have been inflated too long. Even the 3 for this game begs the question what is a zero?
“A Game for Gamers”
Hardly. May PS4 games like No Man’s Sky struggle with the hardware limitations.
Ars is one of the best sites. Highly trusted.
This discourse around games will be a lot healthier when we accept outliers. It’s ok if some reviewers are negative on games. It’s even better if reviewers are split, like with Death Stranding. It’s we want games to be recognized as an art form, we have to encourage art critics.
I’m still going to wait for confirmation from players before I spend $60 on the PS4 version.
Let’s not kid ourselves. “Starfield” is the only Xbox exclusive that we care about this year. Fingers crossed it isn’t delayed and doesn’t follow Bethesda trend with Fallout.
And DoJ
Gears of War 2 has one of the greatest campaigns of all time. Carmine, all that juice, fighting inside a giant worm, and riding monsters.
If a lot of people they didn’t finish a game because of how bad or frustrating it was, then I take that as a signal to avoid that game.
I reject the need for internet dogpiling on reviews that are seen as outliers. Maybe this is a terrible review and maybe the reviewer is terrible at reviewing games. But not everyone will like everything and this is ok.
Miracles only happened because of change in Microsoft CEOs in 2014. Before Nadella, Balmer was ready to sell off Xbox. Not to put down the efforts of Phil Spencer, but he didn’t personally spend over $80B to buy up exclusives. Instead Phil told everyone that console generations were dead, exclusives were bad, and PC players should queue up with console players. Just my perspective,
Nintendo will keep the cheaper Switch Lite light or some other handheld only version of the Switch on the market for a long time. The DS sold so well because of its low price.
Past Magazine has been around a lot longer than a lot of the crappy gaming sites I see here. And unlike a gaming “news” site, Paste doesn’t have to suckle on the teat of the game industry.
