Playing on PS5. Currently level 5 and seeing a lot of other new players. This is a good sign. Matchmaking is decent. Quickplay will find a squad in about a minute. Playing with randos is hit and miss. Not a lot on mics. Not a lot of my friends list are into Helldivers.
I don’t think Microsoft is releasing games exclusively on Xbox anymore. They have some timed exclusives that release on Xbox first.
Joe Staten is a writer, not a developer. A big problem with a lot of studio leadership is that they don’t know how to make the sausage.
Helps Microsoft, duh.
This is how PlayStation owners will get Halo.
EA wants to make more money. 🤷🏻♂️
“over the past few decades”
So were the 1990s a high water mark for gaming? No. Definitely not. Games were pushing on-line play back then. I remember “X-Wing versus Tie Fighter” had no real single player option and my internet was too slow to play on-line. Games like EverQuest pioneered subscription fees for games. Online games came and died and the servers were turned off. Speaking of servers, you might have had to pay for your own. Cheating was easy and competitive play w...
“Way to go, Sarah!”
Yes! Way to say something. Just amazing. I wonder what she said about where to go for dinner.
I’ll only play a Matrix game if it has more Neo and Trinity. I saw the 4th Matrix movie and can’t tell you the names of anyone else.
“One striking observation was that Starfield emerged as the sole single-player game to make it to the top ten on Xbox and PC in terms of average MAU (Monthly Average Users), even without PlayStation data due to it not being released on that platform”
There are too many caveats to parse what this is saying. The article links to a report from “newzoo” that can be sent to your e-mail inbox.
Fortnite made billions. Genshin Impact made billions. Warners Bros. wants one of those.
I really don’t get the love for Sunset Overdrive. It’s one of the few games I bought, played a few hours, gave up, and never returned.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I think the big one is that if the tech don’t work, don’t put it in your game. I’m referring to the planets. What’s worse is that “Starfield” wasn’t the first game to try and fail at procedurally generated worlds. “Mass Effect Andromeda” was going to have procedurally generated worlds to explore like “No Man’s Sky”. The tech didn’t work back then and what we got were some barren desert planets. But at least “Mass Effect Andromeda” let you drive a vehicle.
Never underestimate the trickle of sales of old hardware. I’m glad that Sony keeps old hardware (and games for the old hardware) on the market after the new hardware releases.
”Meanwhile, Spencer’s strategy of lowering the price of entry for the new console by offering a non-4K version of the Series X in the form of the Series S also seems to have paid off, with Xbox doing better than it ever has”
Oof. I think the gaming “news” industry has cognitive dissonance over the failure of Xbox in the market. There is no fact scenario where Xbox is doing better than ever. Xbox has been losing marketshare since the launch of Xbox One and that trend continu...
This is a false equivalency, as in the $80B Microsoft spent to keep games off PlayStation is an order of magnitude more than Sony spent on studios. Although now it looks like Microsoft becoming a 3rd party game publisher (again), and I can understand how an Xbox owner can see that as devaluing their hardware.
But I don’t need a PC to do more things when I can already do those things on my iPad. Save money. Game on PS5.
For $3400 you can buy a PS5, fly to Japan, and visit Sony headquarters.
