They have so many top notch first party developers that either have a game coming within the next four months or have been suspiciously quiet. E3 (or the weeks leading up to it) should be a cavalcade of reveals and the finer details of PS4's OS, network features, sharing functions etc. should also be ironed out.
Although 'social' and 'accessible' are words you probably could associate with casual games, it's more than possible to make a core game that is both without sacrificing the depth of play you'd expect from such a game. I believe this is what Sony wants to achieve.
Deep down, Drive Club, Knack, The Witness and an untitled MM game; that's 5 new IPs before E3. I would like MS to at least match that.

I read somewhere that time slows down the nearer you are to an immensly dense object with an extremely high gravitational pull, such as a black hole. Since time seems to be getting slower the closer we get to the reveal, we can conclude that the PS4 must be powered by a black hole :P

I don't see how 5 years is such a stretch, my PS3 has been entertaining me for more than that and my 360 even longer.

Whether you care or not, it's a pretty big deal to some gamers, including myself. Why can't those who are interested speculate about the features, specs, etc? It's not like it's literally all anyone is writing about, there's other news too.

Yeah expectations are running a tad high but I doubt sensible people are likely to come away disappointed. Of course there's no pleasing everyone and there's bound to be a few critics with some vitriol to share in the aftermath.

There has been a lot of these floating around lately and not a single one has been actually linked to Sony by any credible source. Yet that won't stop the bloggers running with their story will it, it's like credibility doesn't matter anymore.

I don't know exactly how it works in the US but here in the UK you get a cable/sky box free when you pay for a subscription. I'm with virgin media (for their 120mb broadband) I got a free tivo box that records all my shows among other cool media features. Religion makes an excellent antagonist. The mindless followers, the ominous invisible leader, magical powers (miracles and prayers), cooky rituals, an utter inability to accept any truth that doesn't fit into their dogma. Add to that a xenophobic fear and hatred toward anyone who doesn't think as they do and you've got a scary set of bad guys indeed.
