@Nike: Those were legitimate posts covering something in the game industry. Screens from a mainstream game, seriously? Why would we NOT post those, we post all screens that a developer sends us for legitimate titles. And the Heavy Rain glitch was a legitimate topic and/or concern in a game that started off having any number of glitches. I can't remember if we mentioned in the podcast or not (you probably wouldn't know because you didn't listen to it), but there are legitimate uses...
Probably easier to play a PacMan game on the iPad than the one on the iPhone that I tried. Nice review!
Happens all the time, I'm afraid.
Better is all relative. Although I'll probably get it for the 360 anyway. ;)
Either this or Blur...hmmm...decisions, decisions. This game *looks* great though, visually.
Great review. I'm not a big fighting game player, myself, although the Street Fighter series does bring back some memories of playing with friends when I was younger. The $40 price tag doesn't make it that bad, given the fact that all of this could have been accomplished with DLC, also.
Yeah, it is unfortunate that, in the past Macs haven't received much love from PC game developers. Although, now they have Steam, which is a huge step in the right direction.
I just hope Sony and/or Level 5 is faster at localizing WKC2 than they were with the first one.
In a way I agree with dizzleK. Every time you turn around there's a run-of-the-mill shooter coming out. Very few are actually good.
However, just like RPG fans with their preferred genre, there are gamers out there who eat them up and enjoy them. So, to each their own. Having all these shooters on the market doesn't bother me any, I can just not play whatever ones I want. The quantity isn't doing me any harm.
"When I have to complete the entire game again on light, dark, inverted, holographic, angel, devil, car, boat, tree, monkey, duck, cheese, and bread mode just for the final trophy, it gets a little tiring."
I LOL'd. Needless to say, I like multiplayer, I just wish more games had local co-op type multiplayer instead of impersonal online play. That's just me, though!
Sounds disappointing to me. And here I was considering purchasing this just to have something to play on DualShockers community playdates! ;)
I agree with you, actually. In fact, if you check my review of ME2 at DualShockers, and all my posts about it over the last 8 months or so, I never once refer to it as an RPG.
However, Bioware considers it an RPG, which is why I was referring to it as such in this particular article, because that is pretty much what the entire quote and article was centered around.
Don't go by review scores. They're highly subjective, HIGHLY. FFXIII got everything from a 4/10 to a 9/10. How does that give you a good idea of how the game rates?
Anyway, Square-Enix takes more risks than Bioware, because the fundamental Bioware RPG hasn't changed much in 10 years, where as Final Fantasy titles and new IPs out of Squeenix are always trying something new, whether or not it works.
Not to say that Bioware RPGs are bad by any means....
Agreed completely. That's how I see things. Not that creating and customizing your generic avatar isn't fun, it certainly is to a point. But, it is nothing like a pre-defined character built from the ground up to be intertwined in the lore and story of a game, instead of just "there".
I'm going to agree with this. Another thing is that, if it wasn't for me picking up a used game of various franchises at certain points in time, I would have never bought the next game of that franchise NEW.
Mass Effect is a perfect example. My first copy of the original Mass Effect was used, mostly because it was before the "Platinum" edition came out and my local game store didn't have any new copies. But, if I hadn't picked that game up new then a...
Not too shabby. I agree that the trailer gives the game something different than most shooters these days.
Honestly, I'm still not sold on any form of 3D. How people assume it will take over gaming anytime soon is beyond me.
I see the benefits, but this isn't like going to see a 3D movie. Some people don't even have HDTVs yet, a large chunk of consumers, what makes you think they're going to upgrade to 3D TVs? For a long time I can see only a small portion of serious gamers or movie-watchers wanting or even being able to afford an entire 3D set up. But, like I said...
I feel ashamed not having played the first two, but I'm actually interested in jumping in with the third one, assuming I ever find the time.
Sounds like a cool service.
I realize this will be off-topic, but so is half the hate posts above.
Why are the mods not nixing all these off-topic comments? I thought the point of commenting here was to actually talk about the content of a news piece, article, podcast, whatever.
Half the comments above are breaking at least two of the commenting rules here: 1) being off-topic and 2) casting personal insults.
This leaves us one of two options, neither of which are ideal:...
