Wasn't it revealed at that Nintendo 3DS Press event in Japan around September 2011. Right before TGS I think. At least that's where I remember first seeing it.

Seems like the JRPG really is alive and well, we already got Ni No Kuni, Entrian Odyssey IV, Fire Emblem (well technically it's an SJRPG) and we have Shin Megami Tensei IV, Rune Factory IV, Soul Hackers, Project X Zone (technically a SJRPG as well),Pokemon X and Y not to mention the possibility of seeing Dark Souls 2 and Versus XIII. Damn 2013 is gonna be one of gaming's best years ever!
I just wish we could be an actual community and not feel the need to crap on each other just because some people have different preferences. Personally, I'm a Nintendo and Sony fan. Also game on PC. Xbox has never really been my thing although I do like Halo and Gears of War.

It's the first mainline MegaTen game since Nocturne on the PS2 back in 2003. I've been waiting ten years for this! Knowing most Shin Megami Tensei games, it'll probably be worth it. Still a lot of folks probably won't see it that way and will probably won't get it till the price goes down which is understandable as most new 3DS games retail for $40.

First thing that popped into my head when I read the title was Virtue's Last Reward, lol (great game by the way, if you have a 3DS or a Vita I highly recommend it if you're looking for a game with a great story, also recommend you play 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors for the DS before you play it).
To the topic at hand, I do agree that people sometimes let their inner fanboy decide that a rumor is absolutely true or false before even considering if it is even logical...
Same can be said for all fanboys, if it's a great game on a system they don't own they'll find any way they can to hate on it. Even if they've never played it.
People with more than one console are more capable of a less bias stance on what the game of the generation is. Although, like its shown in the video here as well as in this comments section, there is no real way to determine the GOTG because it's different for everyone.

I love my DS, 3DS, PSP and I'm sure I'll love my Vita once I get it. Really there is no need to get all mad at him, he's just expressing his opinion (perhaps in a very over exaggerated manner).
I do disagree with him on the second screen thing though, people used the second screen on the DS in some very cool ways that really added to the game and the DS has an extremely strong library of games. Sometimes even a simple use of the screen like a map or some inventory...

I actually just started Bastion a few days ago, and I'm really loving it. The soundtrack especially is incredible and don't even get me started on the Narrator's voice, it's just plain perfect.

Seeing that this is written by a what is pretty much a Wii U fansite, don't you think that it's already happened? Folks aren't ignorant about this. The only people that act like there's absolutely nothing wrong right now are extreme fanboys. I consider myself a Nintendo fan, also a Sony fan and despite how much I may like them, I'm fully aware of their faults and won't just go about ignoring it.
