Remember when I said HD DVD has a few "surprises" to come? I don't have inside information (I wish I did) but I knew they were going to make some noise.
The next step is $199 players and cheaper Xbox drives.

That this round of the console war is going to belong to the 360. Sony may win July, but heading into the Holidays, Xbox has them beat in almost every way.
I bought a PS3 on day one. The fact that I prefer Xbox and HD DVD didn't mean that I hated PS3.
I became PO'ed with the whole situation when Sony started with their whole "HD DVD is dead" talk. It was very unprofessional. When I looked into it deeper, I realized that Sony & Blu-ray have been doing many unprofessional things, boarding on illegal. That's why they are under investigation by the European Union.
Since then, I’ve been sticking up for HD D...
As you asked :-)
It was a good read... better and more thought-out than the "HD DVD is dead" crap we usually hear. I especially like this line:
"There's no question in my mind that HD DVD is a fundamentally better product."
It’s funny they are announcing products for 2008, overshadowing their 2007 holiday releases. The Blu-ray group will do everything they can to try and convince the public to buy Blu-ray.
Well… almost everything. They have yet to finish the Blu-ray spec, nor are they talking about the soon to be obsolete Blu-ray hardware.

I wonder what will happen when the 100,000+ people who bought standalone Blu-ray players learn that their hardware is basically obsolete this November?

If this format war is already decided, then you're saying PS3 has no chance, right?
HD DVD has a bigger market share in high-def movies than PS3 has in games.
HD DVD's been doing picture in picture for over a year, how is this groundbreaking? Besides, they are faking it, it is not using dual video decoding like HD DVD, instead they are making it a 50 GB disc and printing the movie twice, once with the normal movie, once with PiP. The difference with HD DVD is that on most discs, you can turn the PiP on and off in real-time.

Bethesda Softworks’ Todd Howard notes: "Drive speed matters more to me [than capacity], and Blu-ray is slower."
Hey, all 3 or 4 of you core owners.. time to buy a hard drive.
Xbox 360 is killing PS3 in hardware and software sales.
Take the focus away from poor PS3 sales and talk about 360's heating problem (that has already been solved, and is old news at this point). Sony is full of BS talking heads.
NCAA Football 360: ~500,000 units
NCAA Football PS3: ~100,000 units
They knew the Xbox version would sell better so they probably put more development money into it. I hate to say it, but except for PS3 first party games and exclusives, the PS3 version is usually going to look worse compared to the Xbox version. The Xbox is easier to program for and the larger Xbox audience justifies putting more $$$ into Xbox development.
Look at the slideshow, that's not 2 Xbox 360s, that 1 Xbox 360 and 1 Xbox HD DVD player.
I mean, does every single worthless piece of Sony Blu-ray propaganda have to be posted on this site? Is Xbox killing PS3 that bad that Sony fans have to turn to Blu-ray’s success to feel good about themselves? Give me a break already.
Both Best Buy and Circuity City are offering the 20 GB Xbox 360 at the same price, but with a free game. Why would you not buy it from them?
The Elite is #10
20 GB SKU is #23 and sold out
20 GB SKU w/HDMI is #18
So, a studio that is already committed to Blu-ray is going to start releasing movies again?
Very small news next to 2 studios announcing they are HD DVD exclusive.
