he mentions PC ports not having success on consoles because they weren't built from the ground up for consoles. Which is true. Then he uttered the word Halo and inserted his foot into mouth.
I'm so sick of these comments like "quit making your games from a western perspective and you'll sell better". Most people here are blind to the fact Japanese gamers have abandoned consoles altogether. That's why we're seeing great core franchises, not the usual spin-offs, make the jump to HHs. KH, DQ, & VC immediately spring to mind as examples.
WTF are these Japanese companies expected to do? They invest huge sums of money and the games sell li...
All their countrymen are too busy buying handhelds. Only 17mil consoles sold in Japan this gen and only 7mil are HD consoles. That's pathetic! DMC is a franchise that wouldn't translate well to the Wii audience either. 1st party Metroid, despite a huge marketing campaign, is going to struggle to garner a million sales. So, would you rather them focus on the West or make more god awful HH games?
it's easy to see why. I didn't like DR1 at all. But for 400pts I took a chance. The scale was surprising with that many zombies on screen. No discernable slowdown or screen tearing either. Zombie dismemberment was far more visceral than its predecessor. Combo weapons were great and the plot wasn't a convoluted mess like the original. DR2 is a Day 1 buy.
Warren Spector, John or Gabe. All better IMO
I especially loved the typical straw man fallacy rebut employed by so many prepubescent posters here @ N4G too. keep up the good work!
My favorite 360 exclusive hands down. The ambiance from the framed narrative and introduction to the subtle, yet haunting sound effects to the fantastic implementation of the soundtrack are top notch. The twin peaks vibe, and the dialogue is exquisitely written, just a shame this sold 750k. God I hope Remedy is allowed to finish it. The Writer can't come soon enough.
EDIT: nicely written brah keep up the good work. Some of us appreciate the intellect. On a side note, I d...
Maybe I glossed over many of the fanboy articles, but I didn't know it interfaced with the XMB and was a solid alternative to a BR remote as well. As for the PSeye, anyone who's played a few games of The Eye of Judgment knows it can be a little sketchy at times.
Already pre-paid for the MOVE and its navigator. A little worried about needing a 2nd wand for some games; though it looks like a 2nd is needed more for casual games rather than core apps. RE5, RUSE, HR, and t...
word of mouth can only sell so much. Sony's studios make some fantastic games. But I consistently get PM'ed by friends on the PS3 asking me what I'm playing. Some have never heard of it. Infamous springs to mind.
And yes, I'd rather have games instead of marketing. But the games alone don't garner sales. Consumer awareness plays a part too. Frankly, Sony doesn't have the money since they allocate their resources to game development. This is the double...
who knew one only had to utter 1 word to unite all tech fanboys under the war banner? APPLE. Some of the dumbest posts I may have ever read on N4G all in one article for easy reference.
"Steve Jobs is a moron, a joke." Yeeeaah. A guy who transformed a bankrupt company into a billion dollar corporation is dumb. Ok, whatever you say my good man.
"Tell me when they have a dedicated gaming platform." Yeah that's what Sony and MS have been ...
Even if there weren't fanboys or trolls here to argue with, 75% of people here would invent an imaginary one to carry on the good fight
Seems to me this is a paradigm shift from core to casual. And it probably should be. 360 IS 5 years old; MS just gave us the final revision in the hardware, and Kinect is squarely aimed at taking some of Ninty's casual pie. Gears3 is set for the 1st half of 2011 with Kingdoms slated for the 2nd half. They can rely on a few key exclusives and mostly multi-plats for the rest of the 360's lifespan.
The only comment ever from Greenburg's mouth that rang true to me wa...
I know this game gets a lot of hate, but it's my 2nd favorite 360 game I've bought so far in 2010 (after ME2)
Just too bad MS didn't treat the rest of their studios with the same amount of respect.
Then I realized EVEN he ain't that fat. Sorry ppl, I couldn't resist - I hate Jim Sterling
The amount of money MS is going to put in Kinect's advertising will be staggering. It's going to sell. Most likely more than Move. Also, the Kinect bundle is cheaper than Sony's offering. Doesn't make it better, but there's going to be more consumer awareness for it and price point is always a factor.
A lot of problems though selling the most hardware with the least amount of substance. MS is walking a precarious line. The Nintendo Wii showed us all, you d...
but using a device that that creates a competitive advantage in MP seems a bit disingenuous. In fact, some of us refer to that as cheating. Now if GG patches in K/M support, then I have no qualms. But you think you're the only one who no longer games on a PC rig and has been killed by a sloppier interface? Justify it all you want, the simple truth is laid bare by your own words: I am gonna OWN in KZ3 with the M/K.
Seriously, everything's so subtle yet intense it's classic. The hanging of the self-portrait, the egomaniacal laugh, the life and death struggle of the gameplay (the little girl's rambo-esque scream w/ the guncon!), the NZ flag on the wall, the slow-mo capture of the munchies flying all the while a climatic, orchestral score played in the background was great. The Erik the Red ending was just icing on the cake. Lol a turkey leg.
2 handhelds: 47mil sales in Japan
3 consoles: 17mil
There's your problem in a nutshell. Japanese devs need us western gamers to break even now. Before, a traditional game would garner 1-2 mil in sales before ever getting localized. We western gamers were pure profit. Now they're getting 500k and we're suddenly a part of their spreadsheet.
it? Doesn't make sense. Yes I understand MS quickly dropped support for the original in the wake of the 360's launch. But I think they like Sony's approach more, i.e. having two consoles on the market at the same time. And the 360 has been far more successful than its predecessor. Kinect, for better or worse, is just a transition to a new demographic for MS. A new console in 2012 will satiate core gamers while allowing MS to market the 360 to the casual audience.
