Folks said that BC would increase console sales. Are there any numbers anywhere to confirm or dispute this? It has been 2 months now, so there must be some indications if BC helped or not.
How does a company changing the way it measures something benefit customers? For example let's say as a company I used to count how many customers I have, but I then decide that attach rate is my new metric. I have exactly 2 customers who love my brand. Those 2 customers will buy any game released on my console. The competitor has 5 customers and they are choosy about what they buy.
So my company releases 10 games and both customers buy all 10 games!
While my competitor al...
The Daily Star, in the UK is hardly the highest brow newspaper in the UK.
What they fail to say is just how bad VR will flop for both Occulus and PlayStation.
Its a PS4 exclusive.... oh wait its also available on PC... So NOT an exclusive, like Tomb Raider on Xbox One :)
OT: The games looks incredible. Planning to get it this week.
It's a brand new IP so They are, historically,q never huge system sellers, though Microsoft do need one this year.
Agreed. Too little is known about with only just over 2 months to go. I don't think it bodes well for the game. Hope I'm wrong.
With recent numbers of just 19, maybe 20 million world wide X1s, Microsoft need a hit on their hands. Otherwise as Greenberg says "It will suck..."
@donthate any gamedev worth their salt will abstract the Windows Cloud API, so that their game engine calls the abstracted API and under the hood it would call the Windows one on X1, the Sony one on PS4 etc. At the end of the day each company may call things differently, but they'll be doing similar things, do commonality can be abstracted to make live easier in the long run.
Sounds to me that Techland just haven't got the man power right now to create the abstraction...
@evergrace it may well run at native 1080p (we'll have to wait for Digital Foundry or similar to confirm), but if they aren't using any AA it will be look decidedly jaggy first time you play it. Once you get into the game it won't matter, but if we are talking pure aesthetics, it will look pants compared to other games that implement a decent AA algorithm like FXAA. See here for comparison between AAed screenshots and those without - 3678d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment
I'm going to call it now. The slimmer Xbox, if released this year, will run hot.
They put a LOT of thought into making sure this iteration of Xbox runs cooler. IMO it is too soon to release a slim. This time next year should be around right for them to be able to put everything into a smaller box and it not overheat.
D.
The other reason to upscale it to 1440x60fps it so the process of upscaling should remove any jaggies, if they use the right upscaling algorithm.
A possible ploy to make the game look better than it does perhaps?
Support for native 4K gaming❗️To go with my 4K TV.
For future proofing we need a console that is 6-8times more powerful than a
PS4 from, CPU, GPU and faster memory.
As 4K textures are huge, I expect a new next gen, Bluray format. Bluray 4K, for want of a better name, that holds 256 GB of data at streamable speeds.
There that's my check list of demands.
Wait a sec, let me grab some pop corn.
NMS reminds me of when I first saw Spore. It looked like it would be awesome! Procedurally generated this, that and the other. When it came out it totally tanked.
I'm getting the same vibe about No Man's Sky.
Microsoft is hightailing it out of the console market! Making sure Xbox games are now multi-platform with PC releases is as clear indication that they will phase out their console in favour of PC sales. Coming 2nd or 3rd, 3 generations in a row has left a bitter taste in their sales and shareholders' mouths!!
I hope they have a special edition,because I'll jump on that ❗
Context is key. PS4 is selling faster than PS2, but is also selling more than PS3 and Xbox 360 combined, for the same 25 month period. PS4 is also selling more than Xbox One and WiiU combined this gen.
What are the games that run natively, without scaling at 1080p and 60fps on X1?
Please enumerate.
Just to be clear, you are saying that having a game on multiple platforms means you sell more software, not more hardware right?
If so, let me throw out this hypothetical. Let's assume in a parallel universe Valve have been working on Half Life 3, one of the THE most anticipated first person shooters in the history of gaming. If they are trying to help their SteamBox console reach mass penetration, should Valve release HL3 as a SteamBox only exclusive or should they relea...
Its been said before, but needs repeating, this is a strategy to ween Xbox console gamers off the console and onto the Windows 10 PC platform. Microsoft know this console generation is a very steep uphill battle. What better move than to switch platform focus and take your hard core gamer user base of 15-18 million gamers with you to the PC/Steam eco-system.
The more I hear it the more it confirms to me that Microsoft are just slowly pulling out of the console wars. With 9 ou...
@Bobafret How am I trolling if asking for info? So asking for facts is considered trolling now? Here's a proper troll. If fact is considered trolling, no wonder creationists are allowed to push that agenda in American schools. So that is how I would troll.
Facts, real facts, help everyone understand the world around us better. From console sales to what is beyond our universe.
I honestly have no idea if BC helped increase console sales or not, do you? I ...
