BC will ONLY help Xbox sales in regions where Xbox 360 was strong in last gen. Namely US and UK, that is it, no where else on this planet. Fact!
The rest of the world have already voted with their wallets both this gen and last gen, and they voted PlayStation! Fact.
BC won't make current PS4 owners suddenly buy an X1.
So even if BC helps sales in established Xbox regions, the PS4 will still out sell the X1 in the rest of the world this holiday season and beyond....
@XBLSkull The "updates take ages" argument is so flawed it is beyond belief that any thinking individual would actually use it.
Here is something that happened to me 2 days ago. I turned on by Xbox One and it had a 2GB download that took an hour to download. Poor me!!
FACT: If you don't touch your console, regardless of X1 or PS4, for a while, the next time you turn it on, it will have lots of updates, for either games, the OS and anything else in betwee...
Are you seriously suggesting that in 1 year or 2 Xbox One will be able to go from being 12 million units behind the PS4 to being in front of the PS4 worldwide?? Last gen Sony were only 4 million behind at lauch and it took them a whole cycle to eventually surpass the Xbox 360 sales worldwide. There is no way Microsoft can pull that off unless they give 12 million consoles away for Free this holiday season. Can they afford that money hit?
Secondly,Backwards compatibility will ...
Gamers world wide are choosing PS4 over Xbox One for a reason.
It is not hype, it is because the PS4 caters to a wider variety of gamer, than the Xbox One does. Meaning the games it provides have wider reach. It also helps that games are proven to look better on the PS4, at least so far.
This is why world wide the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One by 2:1. Read that again. 2:1. The ONLY regions it is close are the US and UK. In the US the PS4 has a 1million unit lead, whi...
@Youngindy21 "it has the PS4 beat by a mile."
Yes that is why world wide sales of the PS4 are double, yes read that again double, the Xbox One only 2 years into this gen. Not even the Xbox 360 managed that sales margin last gen and it doesn't look like things will change, even with the X1 backwards compatibility.
As I've mentioned countless time already, backwards compatibility will only help Microsoft in the regions where they were strong last gen, ...
@Docknoss unfortunately backwards compatibility will count for very little and will only help Microsoft in the regions where they dominated with the Xbox 360, namely US and UK. Everywhere else the gamers have voted with their wallets and and bought PS4s. Also the sales spike due to BC will be short lived as Microsoft release exclusives and new multiplats on the Xbox One
As for Windows 10, this is the only thing that could turn their fortunes around. But this will largely depend on whe...
As I've mentioned previously as nice as backwards compatibility is, it only has the possibility of changing Xbox One's lacklustre (compared to PS4, not compared to Xbox 360) sales in 2 regions. US and UK. The Xbox 360 strong holds of last gen.
Everywhere else in the world Sony owns at the moment as the PS4 is selling like cakes that are hot in those regions and that won't stop this gen. The brand is just too strong there and so far Sony have shown they understood gamers, b...
@gangsta_red the difference is.....if you search YouTube you WILL find lots of videos of people screaming and jumping and crying with joy about FF7, Shenmue and TLG. But do a search for the same reactions about backwards compatibilty and you'll find less than a handful of woots. It is a nice bullet point for a console, but rarely pushes sales. Unfortunately it won't save the Xbox One lagging behind the PS4 by nearly 11million units world wide now. BC will do well in 2 countries, and n...
Removing the terrain in the background, means not having to draw that geometry which = saved CPU/GPU cycles. Did they seriously do that to animate the water? If the Xbox One is powerful enough, it should be able to handle the background geometry landscape, as well as the animating water and all at a higher resolution and higher frame rate this gen. I suspect the devs removed the background terrain because the X1 couldn’t handle all that going on, on the screen.
Maybe they should consi...
The real comparison should NOT just be a a percentage of orders, but actual total orders, before and after E3.
For example if only 1 person had ordered Forza 6 before E3 and then 500 ordered it after E3, the percentage increase is huge! Compared to say 1000 people ordered Uncharted 4 before E3 and only 500 ordering it after E3. Just on the above Forza's take up is huge, but does not actually reflect how popular the game is.
Raw numbers please, so we can ...
From my perspective the pure gameplay of Demon's Souls, its dark style and the boss battles within it, have yet to be surpassed by any game, this gen or last. 2nd would be TLOU, then U2 and possibly MGS3 before that.
Each to their own :)

So Windows Desktop is relatively small compared to the total mobile space today, also why Windows Phone won't get an app, I suspect, unless Microsoft pay Sony for one. But I can't see that happening. Having said that, the little puzzle game I'm currently writing, I'm planing to release on Windows Phone, but only after Andoid and iOS :).
The article writer really hasn't thought it through...
Backwards compatibility will NOT help Microsoft. The hard core gamers who love Xbox would have already bought an Xbox One in the first 1.5 years it has been out and those who can afford it would have bought both the Xbox One and the PS4. Those that have jumped ship to PS4 and not bought an Xbox One, can still play their Xbox 360 games on the console they already have. The other thing is that not ALL X360 games will ev...
Microsoft are gambling a lot on Windows X . Hope they've taken the time to make it coherent across devices.
In Germany the sales are nearly 5:1 in PS4's favour. World wide it is very close to 2:1 in PS4's favour. The only 2 places where PS4 and Xbox One are close are US and UK.
PS Home will definitely come to PS4. This kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com... by Atom Republic( http://www.atomrepublic.com... will bring it to PC and PS4.
If you are a fan, maybe you should back the kickstarter. They've already hit their target, but maybe with extra funds they ...
More like "The Last of you" because me used the flame thrower.
@EonJay She's cold up to her thigh, then hot for a bit, then cold the rest of her body. Weird place she must live.
@Death if all the PlayStation gamers didn't buy the remakes, Sony would stop making them, as there would not be a market for them. If the games are good, the remakes done well, gamers are willing to buy them again. Uncharted and Last of Us being prime examples.
I do hope that you complaining about remakes means you won't be a hypocrit and buy the Gears remake on your console of choice. Instead you will be a man of principle and only play Gears through the system sell...
