Hard disagree. But that's the beauty of opinions.
I would get Persona 5 first, this is probably my second favorite JRPG of the gen though.
And also, I never got to play Lost Odyssey because my Xbox 360 died for a second time before I got to it. Mind you, I had only played Bioshock, Mass Effect 1/2, Fable 2, and some of Blue Dragon on it. Died twice, 5 games. I decided to stop buying games for it. Passed on the One this gen, good decision so far. Literally nothing that has jumped out at me. I'm eyeing that Switch though.
I couldn't care to play past Gears 1 or Halo 2. The storytelling in their games aren't good. Gameplay is well done, sure, but as I've gotten older I need more than gameplay to push me through a game (especially when there are so many out there). I'm not dead inside, there are a few games that have made me feel something, and fewer that have made me tear up. I regard those as some of my favorite games.
Microsoft just so happens to not have produced any of the titles I&...
While it's not my game of the year, I've really been enjoying DQ XI. It's got the same charm that made me fall in love with DQ VIII. My tastes have changed a bit since then, Persona taking up my number one favorite JRPG series spot, but this game has helped solidify DQ as my second favorite. Once I get home from vacation, I'm gonna clean up and get the platinum.
Can't say I've ever played a Microsoft exclusive that ever made me cry. Their multiplayer games are usually pretty good, but their stories leave something to be desired.
Oh, you don't love microtransactions?
God of War is not only my game of the year, but my favorite game from this generation. Every aspect of the game shines, from its visuals to its art style, from its storytelling to its superb gameplay. The game evolves Kratos as a character, one who I never though would bring emotional depth to a video game. While it hasn't topped The Last of Us as my favorite game (due to some slight pacing issues), it comes up right behind. God of War made the entire game seamless by interjecting incredi...
Finally, just what I've been waiting for.
Sony isn't supporting cross platform play on every single title yet? Guess I'll go back to playing all the amazing single player experiences they've created. Darn.
Technically Sony has been allowing cross platform play with PC for quite some time now. Hell, I played FFXIV for a full year a while back. Played with both PC and PS players. There are plenty of other examples, probably more than the other publishers have going on at the moment.
Yeah, okay.
But you're right, it probably has a cohesive story, I just don't want to have to read every single piece of item and piece it together. I liked what God of War (2018) did. It had strong narrative plus side lore to explore. I spent a lot of time on the boat listening to Mimir and reading passages BECAUSE the main narrative was so enticing. Had it not been good, I would have just enjoyed the combat and tried to get through the game, like I did with BB.
Yeah, I don't like that. I've had numerous discussions with my good friend about these games. He adores them and really appreciates them. I'm glad they exist and that there's an audience out there for them. As much as I love Bioshock and it's atmosphere, the overall narrative helped push it even further.
Have them put in a better story and I'll play through them. Finished Demon's Souls and almost finished Bloodborne. Had nothing to do with difficulty, just didn't really care since there wasn't a cohesive story. Mechanics are great, but I'm past mechanics being the reason I play games.
New Bethesda IP and Elder Scrolls VI in the works.
The ending of support for Vita and the high likelihood that Sony won't do another handheld. Vita was the first handheld that I played a bunch of games on and was happy to bring it with me everywhere. PSP was for God of War, Gameboys were for Pokemon (for me, at least). Vita's library was perfect at the start. Uncharted, LBP, KZ, Gravity Rush, Persona 4 G. So much stuff that I loved with console quality graphics. Oh well.
Sony Santa Monica for me. God of War was an incredible experience and not only that, but it had no multiplayer, microtransactions, or planned DLC. They listened to fans and gave them their new game plus, but other than that, it was exactly how I think games should be delivered. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on multiplayer games, I just really appreciate a solid single player game that focuses on creating an amazing experience. I'm so glad they won GotY at the Game Awards. Wel...
Intrigued is definitely the word I'd use to describe how I feel. I loved MGS 1-4 and enjoy Kojima's rather convoluted plot lines, but I'm not quite "excited" for this one yet, as I'm not sure what's going on 🤔... The graphics are incredible though. I hope the game delivers on every aspect that Kojima is aiming for.
I don't think I'd play this if it were given to me for free. Had to force myself through Rise of the Tomb Raider. The character development and narrative were horrible.
