Remember when DLC was called "unlockable content?"
Or when DLC would be announced months AFTER a game got released, not half a year BEFORE?
Gaming... gaming has changed. YOU USED TO COOL, MAN!
Yes, but it looks better in motion. Some of the videos of caves--the lighting effects, and the water... very impressive.
Come to think of it, I've ALWAYS been impressed with water in games, ever since the 3D revolution began.
I remember being transfixed by it in FFX.
Staring at the sea for ages in Morrowind.
@Autodidactdystopia: you have an awful username. Too long! Too many consonants! Anyway, yeah, unless you're a casual gam...
I'd kill for a Jade Empire that took longer than 8 hours to complete 100%. Or a Jade Empire with more than 2 towns.
Honestly, I want to love JE, I really do... but the game was so far from finished it wasn't even funny. It easily had the richest setting of any Bioware game this side of licensed Forgotten Realms stuff, and a lot more potential than any other game Bioware has released in a very long time. It's a damned shame it wasn't better than it was; longer ...
They're not really in the same genre, but as is usually the case, people are comparing a multi-plat to an exclusive--fanboys will ALWAYS tout the superiority of the exclusive to the multiplat, long before either games release. Sometimes these irrational assumptions prove true (Prototype v. Infamous) and sometimes they very, very much do not.
Doesn't the PSP still have something like 2 more Legend of Heroes titles and another Ys? Those are all pretty big-profile.
And Frontier Gate, of course.
And there are still several high-profile Japan-only games to look forward to: though I'm hoping several will make the jump to Vita sooner rather than later. I need some TOTSUGKEI LOVE HEART on Vita.
Since when is SE trying to cater to twitchy action-fans in the west? If anything, XII and XIV have demonstrated a strong desire to cater toward fans who enjoy extremely passive gameplay.
Hell, if SE has demonstrated any ONE thing beyond any doubt, it's that they simply don't have any confidence in their own developers (something I don't really have to give examples of, right?). That's why instead of producing their own content, SE has simply been remaking, re-...
Keep in mind that the other 62% don't necessarily DISAGREE. I do not think 3D detracts from gaming, but I don't think it adds anything to the experience, either.
And AWBrawler? That' irrelevant. Saying 3D is a gimmick has absolutely no bearing on HD ports/remakes/updates whatsoever. I think pretty much every gamer can agree that 3D on the 3DS kind of sucks, and that HD ports kind of suck. That's precisely why the 3DS has gotten so much flack for both its hardw...
It's very obviously not true. It's a random spanish website posting random crap without even attempting to give a source. They couldn't even come up with believable/feasible details. You can't magically "filter" old, low-res CGI movies to another engine. Nor
And it's also unlikely we'll even see the FFX HD port until 2013--on either side of the ocean. The idea that SE could release a full-blown remake so quickly, when they struggle so hard t...
It's not *my* list, people. It's the list of launch titles for the Vita that came up after googling "PS Vita launch titles." It's from IGN.
And, Misterhbk, I'm not sure that's a wise assumption. If the rumors are true, Vita is barely launching 1 month later in North America than in Japan. That's not enough time to accumulate a lot more titles. Though it's possible that's an old E3 list. Like I said, it's IGN's list, not mine. ...
Yeah, I've been meaning to get DKCR for a while now, but have been wanting to finish Galaxy first.
I would, however, disagree that traditional (2D) platformers are more about skill and accuracy. Accuracy is more important with 3D platformers because of, you know, that whole new dimension. I know when they first came out, I had a hell of a time making accurate jumps.
2D platformers typically place greater emphasis on timing, and most of the challenge/fun c...
We all know it'll play well.
What we need to know about Diablo 3, we won't know until it's released--things like the overall quality of the narrative, environmental design, etc., etc.
Assuming we don't get the news that Diablo 3 will be sold as 4 different $60 game, each one with a new act for the campaign, and a new class.
*sigh*
I thought it was.
But it's already had a PSP release, and 2 PS3 releases, so one would think newer IPs would be more anticipated.
Well, not that the list actually has many of the newer IPs.
Biggest launch titles I'm anticipating are Gravity Rush and Ruin.
Actually, after googling it, these are the launch games:
Army Corps of Hell
Disgaea 3 Returns
Gravity Rush
Hot Sho...
Platformers are nice because they offer a different way to explore and fight than "walk and shoot."
But they really haven't "kept up with the times." I'm still waiting for a nice, big open-world, sandbox platformer.
Why is it so hard for people to understand the difference between a port and a remake?
Isn't that the nature of collaborative work?
That's the final result of two people or groups working together... a process that more often than not involves one person or group doing the gross majority of the work.
Music, pictures, movies, PS1 games, PSP games... these aren't esoteric functions. They're essential, core features of the device.
People have been comparing the Vita to the PS3 in many ways... in terms of functionality/versatility, both the PS3 are designed as multimedia devices--yet the PS3 is the only one that can actually function as a multimedia device out of the box.
Very true. And that competition resulted in Nintendo's increasing irrelevance in the mainstream console market. Nintendo's "domination" with the Wii was fairly recent, and fairly unexpected.
What else would a Bethesda game be good for? Combat is simplistic and boring. The narratives and dialog are laughably bad. If you're not playing chiefly to explore, you probably don't have very good taste in games--or much experience with the medium.
The Playstation Vita is too expensive with the necessary peripherals. If you want to play your UMDs, you'll have to buy a peripheral. If you want to listen to music, watch movies, view pictures, and play PS1 or PSP games downloaded through the Playstation Network, you'll have to spend about $100 on a decent sized (PROPRIETARY) memory card.
And that really, really sucks.
Which makes this horridly written, horridly thought-out pile-of-****-of-an-article...
It is an issue... saying, "just buy a bigger HD" doesn't make the issue disappear.
But it's not a big issue.
Lack of backwards compatibility, lack of BASIC file sorting options, lack of custom soundtrack implementation, etc., etc are all more important IMHO.
