Gotta love the completely strait, unironic replies to this post.
Bioshock, Arkham City, Borderlands, and any other gen from the current generation is not a "classic." Hell, even the oldest PS2 games are barely in the "classic" range.
I don't think so. Heavy Rain is one of those items that attracts rabid fanboys who can't tolerate any criticism, period.
God knows why.
It's not hard, it just has a steep learning curve.
Personally, I'm sick of people claiming these games are hard just because of the artificial difficulty induced by way of the low HP bar and trial-and-error gameplay. Enemy AI is just as bad in DS as in any other game; enemy attacks are just as predictable as in any other game. The only real difference between DS and random game C is that random game C doesn't expect the player to die, ever, and in DS player death ...
Soul Reaver 2.
Gotta love how they mention Demons/Dark Souls first. FROM software is notorious for having crappy control schemes with their mech games (Armored Core, ACE, etc.)
No.
This is what bugs me about watching gameplay vids. People always walking everywhere and always guarding. Reactionary gameplay is NOT the way to go. Once you know how the enemies you're facing fight, you should always be on the offensive. Charge at them and strike first. Makes moving around so much faster.
I managed to clear the Depths/Sewers and the vagina-dragon in about 20 minutes by doing that (first time in the area) simply because the enemy AI su...
Does no one know what it "leaking" is any more?
For Christ's sake, if a game has been leaked, there'll be a torrent. It's not something you have to ponder, nor is it something that leaves behind much in the way of physical evidence.
It's not hard, it just has a steep learning curve.
700 levels? Doesn't it cap out at 150?
I'm at 80-something myself, and can scarcely imagine ever going higher.
Another FPS? Joy.
It's just a skin. The worse example of DLC milking would be, I don't know, having a world-famous artist design a fictional plane for the game, but then forcing players to buy the aircraft separately. THAT would suck.
Dark Souls isn't a hard game.
What makes it hard is the pre-concieved notion so many gamers have that death = failure. If you go into Dark Souls (or Demons Souls, for that matter) with that attitude, you're going to feel overwhelmed with a sense of failure and frustration and you're going to hate the game for being too hard.
If you can accept the fact that you're going to die, and don't invest ANY emotion into those deaths, you won't g...
Par for the course, no?
Goddamn that was a poorly written and awkward article.
I've had a Wii die once, a 360 die twice, and an original xbox die 3 or 4 times (god, I hated that console). Never had any problems with PSP/DS/3DS (yet).
PS3, on the other hand? Most reliable hardware I own next to Amazon Kindle. No bugs, no crashes, have a launch 60GB model and a slim, perfect experiences with both.
Here's hoping the Vita is as well-built.
Yeah, that's pretty tempting. Just do yourself a favor and wait for a price drop/sale. While it can be entertaining, it's a pretty mediocre JRPG with a lot of little annoyances.
Some eroge have good stories, supposedly. I remember the Tears to Tiara anime getting me interested in the game (which was actually pretty cool) but the sex-scenes were so... forced and awkward I couldn't stomach it for long.
Fate Stay/Night and Kanon also originated as eroge, IIRC.
Dark Souls makes me want to re-buy Demons Souls. My memory is that DS played a lot tighter and looked better, but that's probably wrong. At the very least, I feel I should give the game another chance--never did get very far.
Kind of odd that someone who could barely handle the first game like me is able to breeze through Dark Souls with hardly any trouble. 15 hours in and I'm already level 60.
Well, yeah, but that was the first, inaugural update. What happens on Tuesday will be an indicator of what to expect from the series. For example, if we get 4 more PS2 classics, we can assume the library will be steadily updated. 1 or 2? Off-and-on updates like the PS1 classics. No new PS2 games? That would indicate a very slow-building, sparse library, much like that of the PS2 HD ports.
Here's hoping their appeal to the casual market pays off for them. Producing the worst Ace Combat title in the series' history sure has burned off most of the old fans.
