I suppose I can agree with that list.
Not so much because any of those stories were particularly good: it's just that 2011 really didn't offer much better.
This is not a real trailer, nor is it news. It does not belong on N4G and should not have been posted.
Everyone who approved this thing should be ashamed.
The history channel actually had a pretty good documentary on dragons a while back (yeah, CRAZY, I know). There was some interesting stuff there, not the least of which were some accounts of Roman armies encountering dragons on the field of battle (which, as you can guess, was totally the ONLY reason the Romans lost).
Personally, I'm not sure I fully buy into the idea of dragons being ancient interpretations of dinosaurs. It's makes a lot of sense, I know, but I think...
That video was painful to watch. Sure, I know, on an intellectual level, that there are people out there that have only ever played shooting games. People who are blithely unaware of the role-playing genre, or even of the great classics of the past that succeeded largely due to the synthesis of solid gameplay with solid narrative... but to actually see such a person... it hurts.
What made it worse was that he came off as a reasonably intelligent person. Yikes.
Please, god, let them take Facebook.
I'm sick to death of seeing all those smug assholes browsing facebook on their laptops in the middle of lectures. Disrespectful twats.
Technically speaking, "RPG" is not a genre. Not any more, at least. Basically, there are two kinds of games--games where you play as a defined role or character (an RPG) and those where you do not. RTS games, racing games, puzzle games all fit into the latter, whereas (modern) shooters, third-person action games, turn-based "rpgs," etc. all fit into the former.
These days, nearly ~every~ game is an RPG.
And, while you may be able to create...
And here I read, "flashback" and immediately got my hopes up for some sort of single-player DLC featuring young-Drake.
Guess I'll save some money at least.
Quick heads up for people smart enough to read the first few comments before clicking the link: there's nothing to see. It's just hitbaiting drivel. No news, no opinion, just some poor twat making vague comments about high-profile games in an attempt to garner hits.
The correct answer is, "because you are operating under the incorrect assumption that there are fewer JPRGs being produced now than before."
There are fewer JRPGs on the PS3 simply because there are fewer games (period) on the PS3. This is because development costs have risen exponentially with the advent of the current hardware generation. There are just as many (if not more) JRPGs being produced today than ever before, they're just spread out more. Instead of ...
What it ultimately comes down to is that there are way, way, way too many awful sequels to good games to narrow down a list to 50, let alone 5.
Or they're tired of the cliches and archetypes both games embrace wholeheartedly.
Or they had unrealistically high expectations.
Or they have an instinctive dislike for anything that's popular.
Really, there are quite a few possibilities.
lol @ console fanboys.
Arguing over which platform is worse? Obviously, it's the PC. You can rant and rave about all the technical issues you want, nothing beats the all-too-common PC complaints of "the latest patch made my game completely unplayable."
I haven't been able to launch the thing since late November, myself.
...Not really. There may be plenty of terms of "ghost," but only ONE for "Stalfos."
And, being written in Katakana, it'd be fairly easy to spot.
TP follows the "child link" timeline, right? So would he really have been that famous?
And besides, TP takes place a LONG time after OoT. (The whole "hundred years" thing is a mistranslation, it's HUNDREDS OF YEARS later).
The guy has a point. The fact that you can't accept this and choose to insult him... truly demonstrates just how juvenile you are.
These guys may do PSN store previews every week, but they're just trolling for hits. (i.e. they're not a credible website). We won't know what all will be in the update until the update/official blog post.
So it's possible we'll get some PS2 games. But don't hold your breath. This IS sony we're dealing with, after all.
So what is it, and adventure game, a pseudo-RPG like the PAA games, or a collection of mini-games?
You won't have to wait long. It couldn't even outsell Tales of Xilia.
What's wrong with being gay?
You know that puzzle game they give to little kids, where there are different shaped holes and pegs, and you're supposed to match each peg up with the correct hole? It's one of those early tests of basic intelligence, right?
Being gay is the "grown up" equivalent of trying to ram the square peg into the circular hole.
Basically: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!
It has nothing to d...
Nice review. Really hit the nail on the head.
Well, with respect to gameplay.
But RPGs (and, you know, almost every other genre in the gaming medium since 2005) have a lot more factors that need to be weighed. The main plot, sidequests, game structure, writing quality, voice acting, music, etc., etc. are all very important aspects of the game and this review failed to mention any of them.
Basically, the guy just (very appropriately) pointed o...
