Yeah.

But the title makes me think "zombies," which would make it analagous to a 5-star chef cooking up some mcnuggets.

Fantasy is far from dying. It's one of the most cliched, over-used setting in the industry today... and has been for several decades.

This year alone has seen:

Atelier Totori
Dark Souls
Dragon Age II
Dungeon Siege 3
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Heroes of Might & Magic VI
Radiant Historia
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny

And those are just the few off my head that happen to be BOTH initi...

It would be better if the music didn't cut off so suddenly. It should play to the end and gently fade out.

Once again, a negative review for TotA3D.

Sure, the original was great, but clearly this is an entirely different animal--and a really sucky one at that. After all, it's from Japan and it's on the 3DS--clearly, it's an awful, awful game.

Old, old, old news.

No, it's a reference to some old kitty saying. Something like, "a perfect land is elsewhere."

It is "elsewhere." Read up on the lore!

Three weeks of continuous play? When the 3DS internal battery can barely handle 4 hours?

I call shenanigans.

I don't want them to keep the motion controls--I want them to be improved upon. Until it's perfect 1:1 control, never feel satisfied!

Do we really need a five-part series on how SE can win back fans? I can do all that in a single sentence:

"If Square Enix wants to regain their former status in the gaming community, they need to start making high-quality titles instead of simply making big-budget titles."

...Yet the points you give for him saving the company don't really have anything to do with Research and Development. Maybe he just wasn't very good at that job?

I'm all for it. If leaving the administrative stuff leads to more hands-on with Zelda, more power to him.

Wasn't there already a South Park game?

On, like, the N64 or something? I vaguely remember playing something like that... and it sucking.

Or are we at a point where we automatically expect licensed titles to be good because of Arkham Asylum?

Nice racism there.

Well, someone sure looks foolish here, Kossy, but I don't think it's who you think it is. <.<

No, it's not true. It really isn't. Remakes require LESS time than new games because so much of the time-consuming work is already done.

All they have to do is create the models and areas in the White Engine and set about recreating the original. But I guess that would take a lot more time than using areas and models from the last FF game for the newest one.

Basically, I'm saying Square Enix's laziness borders on incompetence.

I think it has something to do with the idiots that constant berate the series despite clearly not having any real familiarity with it.

Most musou fans just accept it without question when a new game comes out and negative reviews come out and it's blindingly obvious the reviewer never played the game at all, instead basing his or her impressions off of what "everyone knows every musou game is," or off a decade-old game because "everyone knows every musou g...

Sequels have nothing to do with anything.

Square-Enix has been trying to not have to "build everything from the ground up" for the better part of the decade. Hence the "White Engine" and their experiments with Unreal. Their idea of a sequel is more of what other developers would consider an expansion pack--reusing all the assets (areas, items, characters, etc.) to build a "new" game. It's an extraordinarily half-assed approach.

Probably a PS3 game, as it's got the bigger library.

Try to find Nier, Enslaved, Resonance of Fate, 3D Dot Game Heroes or a Yakuza game. They're pretty cheap already to begin with, and sales can only make 'em cheaper. For newer games, keep an eye out for deals on Arkham City, Catherine, Dark Souls, Disgaea 4, and the various recent HD Collections--Ico/SotC, Metal Gear, etc.

This. It's the same problem we have with places like Gamespot and IGN. They're not reliable (at all), and are, in fact, notoriously unreliable (and even unethical) but have far more prominence in the gaming media than they deserve simply because they're old, established names that people are familiar with.

It's brand-recognition, pure and simple.
