Where's the mod to add in all of those textures Bethesda "forgot" to put in the game? Western Skyrim looks awful.

I wonder if you can kill Link with his own sword in SS...?

Crap, I didn't even know it was out.

This Autumn has been absolute murder for games. I'm still trying to wrap up Disgaea 4 and Dark Souls: hell, I haven't even unwrapped Rune Factory or Professor Layton.

And next week is Zelda.

****.

Gaming was a lot easier when I was a kid and could only afford a handful of games each year.

I wouldn't trust any of these guys.

They all go around doing whatever the hell the feel like and never pause, even for a moment, to consider the consequences of their actions. That's the height of reckless irresponsibility.

Not to mention that fact that most of them are unemployed, and none of them are capable of maintaining an actual human relationship.

I don't think so.

I know both console and PC gamers like to think of themselves as more mature than the other, but the sad truth is most PC gamers act like most Console gamers--no matter their age or station, they act like 6-year-old twats.

The only "mature" group of gamers out there is the group that only refers to themselves as "gamers." No PC or console prefix--no hardcore or casual prefix, either.

All of the NPCs I've seen have been ugly as hell.

Except for one, possibly: the shapes were good, but covered with so much dirt crap it was hard to get good grasp of things.

Really? It took 3 whole games to reach this conclusion?

Yikes.

Also: no one cares about your gender.

Same here. Love AC2, never got into Brotherhood. Seems like they must've half-assed the single player side.

Considering buying this. Loved Trigger, never played cross.

Anyone able to tell me if the game is riddled with the same awful load times that plague PSN release of Chrono Trigger?

And what's the deal with the artwork? Please don't tell me they went with "generic 90s anime" style instead of staying with Toriyama's awesome stuff.

Post-post-apocalyptic isn't apocalyptic.

And no matter how you cut it, the setting is not medieval. It's High Fantasy. If you say anything other than "high fantasy," you're saying the wrong thing.

^--Naw, it's a fictional world, they don't share ANY eras with ours.

I suppose if you really want to assign an era, post-post-apocalyptic works best. Basically, if you look at the lore, the ancient Dwemer were fairly advanced technologically--they had robots and crap--and then they were wiped out somehow, and technology was stigmatized--thus the dominance of magic in TES culture.

Through magic they are able to achieve a standard of living roughly equi...

Me too.

And now I'm sad... and even more bitterly disappointed with Nintendo than I was thirty seconds ago.

5252d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

They're three separate entities. Nintendo has been kind of sucky all around lately, but NoA is by far the worst offender. It's not that they hate their loyal consumers, they just don't give a flying **** about us.

I'm a big fan of the "Babylon 5" method--give each race a real-world accent. It helps to differentiate everyone and provide an easily-recognized layer of independent culture.

IIRC, Dragon Age took a similar approach (as did Mass Effect, and Morrowind IIRC).

And to be fair, it's not really a medieval game. Not even close, actually.

5252d ago 6 agree2 disagreeView comment

Considering how even games that try to sell themselves based on player choice (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc.) don't have much in the way of consequences, I wouldn't expect much from Skyrim.

I'm sure if you've got the stats (assuming guild line quests actually require the right skills this time) you can be the head of the Mages and Thieves guild and the Dark Brotherhood.

Bethesda games are not about choice. They're about "freedom,&quo...

Sure is pretty. You can REALLY see the influence of those artists Bethesda finally got around to hiring: this is going to be the most fun to explore open world game since RDR.

And when the hell will Steam let us pre-load?

I think the main point these people keep hitting on is the fact that while Uncharted 2 was a big advancement from Uncharted 1, Uncharted 3 is roughly the same as Uncharted 2. It doesn't really show any evolution or advancement.

Basically, U1>U2=U3

That's not a good thing, but it's not a bad thing either.

Personally, I feel that if people want to whine and complain about Uncharted 3, they ought to pick out more valid criticisms....

Why is it great? Article was worthless, only thing it offered was a screenshot(?) that looked pretty damn generic.

They're actually fairly common. It's just never been a genre that's seen much action outside of Japan, though there are some notable exceptions. The recent success of Catherine and Persona leaps to mind.

^--It's not a new engine, it's the same engine "modified." Bethesda has stated this several times. They have also states that they're using the same resources (types of mesh/textures/whatever) that the older games have, claiming to be doing so because that's the stuff the modders have so much experience with.

But the long and short of it is that it's not really a new engine in any sense of the word. Trust me: you'll recognize the Gamebryo as ...
