Your fundamental point makes sense to me, but I've still not seen any reason why Blu-Ray is essential for anything. It will be in the future, and that may be this generation, indeed, but so far, DVD's are able to provide the same gameplay experience as Blu-Ray, just with some disc switching. I'm not convinced that 3 DVD's is going to make Star Ocean on 360 any less enjoyable.

Sony had nothing to do with Haze.
It just happened to be released on a Sony platform.
And K2 doesn't look anything like Haze, in all seriousness. All the people who've played it have been able to attest that it's basically already "good" with the potential to be great.
From my personal experience, Gears 2's online sucks right now because of terrible waiting times getting into matches and awful lag and slowdown making the game unplayable during about half the matches I've entered. But if I'm being honest, I'm still having the exact same issues with LittleBigPlanet, as well. The only game that I bought this fall that didn't give me online connection issues is Resistance 2. It has actually worked! Since day one.
Halo 3 worked great for me when it first came out. Gears 1 had awful issues. I couldn't get into a match to save my life and when I could the slowdown was unbearable and unplayable. I've had the same issues with Gears 2. It took about 2 months before Gears 1 worked for me. Once it worked, though, I became very addicted. I don't know why Epic hasn't been able to get the networking code right, straight out of the gates, but whatever.

Here's the difference between the way all games borrow inspiration from others and how truly GREAT games borrow. Well in my opinion, Gears 2's multiplayer isn't as addictive as other games. I'm playing other games now. Gears 2 had a very fun campaign, but you can beat it in one or two days, so yeah, a rental is a pretty satisfactory way to experience Gears 2.
I disagree with their assessment of the worm level. It was my favorite level in the game, actually, from a gameplay perspective.
I pretty much agree on most of their other comments, though.
All in all, I liked Gears 2, but I think it is over-rated. In my opinion, saying Gears 2 is the best game of the year would be akin to giving a greatest hits album the Grammy for best album. Gears 2 does a whole lot right, but there isn't an original bone in its body.

The fact that Resistance 2 has stat-tracking and XP earning that are conjoined for all 3 modes of the game, and leveling up in the co-op and competitive modes that unlock new berserks, equipment, and weapons, makes playing the game so unbelievably addictive. I bet it'll work on the BC-compatible 80gigs soon-time. When Mana Khemia came out in March, it didn't play. The firmware update following its release gave it support though. I bet Kingdom Hearts will be made to work with a future update, too. I kind of expect the same thing with Persona 4 next week. I'll buy it, but I expect to not be able to play it immediately. If that happens, I'm cool with it, because I still have Valkyria Chronicles to keep me busy, among other games.

Yeah. They made God of War: Chains of Olympus, didn't they? That's a prequel. It was a great game. They did it once, they'll do it again. If they want to make more awesome God of War action, they'll do it as a prequel and we'll happily accept it as long as the gameplay is good.

Hahaha. I have to literally laugh out loud at all the people claiming that the UNIVERSAL POWER SYMBOL (it appears on my PS3, 360, Wii, PC, and Polaroid television for god's sake) is somehow a symbol for Microsoft. If anybody is associating it with Microsoft it's only because so many people have seen the Red Ring of Death, which surrounds the power button, and therefore the universal power symbol.

First, the "i" has nothing to do with 360, and it's a significant part of the teaser. So it's either iPod or Wii or DSi.
Second, if it WERE for 360, I'd bet money that MS would know about it by now due to licensing contracts, etc., and they'd have probably kept this thing under wraps and then let loose with a big Final Fantasy XIII style reveal when they wanted to make it public.
No, it won't go up to 80-90%. If you read the article, the devs say that it only hits 60% maximum at the most taxing moments of the game. The majority of teh game runs at less than 60% of the SPU usage.
