No, ZELDA had an attach rate of 75%. Only Zelda.
And for those who missed it, this game is actually Killzone 3. Killzone 2 is currently on the PSP.
Yes, Killzone 3 was "demoed" months before Killzone 2 ever entered the public arena.
But it is still Killzone 3 you're talking about, not Killzone 2.
Look great early and end up sucking?
You mean like Killzone?
Considering Nintendo of America's HQ is just down the street from Microsoft, it would've crossed my mind too.
I live in a country where MANY people won lawsuits against fast food companies for "forcing" them to eat their food and get fat.
Nintendo's going to get sued, and they're going to lose.
And that's a commentary about the legal system, not Nintendo.
Most? Try at least 80% of gamers are still on an HDTV, even after Black Friday.
F*** Capcom. Seriously. It's not like this isn't a known issue. And it wouldn't be terribly hard to fix- in Dead Rising for isntance, the primary problem is that CRITICAL STORY POINTS are too small in the "news" banner at the bottom. A text size fix would take maybe a few days, counting testing, to put out. Increase the text, make sure the bar looks good, and ship. Unless they did a bad jo...
PS3 already runs arbitrary OSs out of the box. Save money, and download Linux for free online.
If this version DOES offer anything unique, people will be hacking those bits out and using them to further homebrew OSs.
It's a liiiitle bit too late to be releasing this product, unfortunately.
360 - Has already cut manufacturing costs, may already be making a profit per console. The console opened that less than $100 loss, and probably less than $50.
PS3 - Costs $200 more, and that $200 difference is mimicked by a nearly $200 loss per system.
Wii - Costs even less, and was making a profit at laucnh.
What price war? Looks like there are two clear winners and one clear loser to me.
Microsoft not only replaced 360s usualy regardless of issue, often regardless of whether you bought the warranty or not, and frequently beyond people's warranties anyway, but also overnighted a box to you, overnighted it back, and some Core customers even got free hard drives.
Sony? Not so much, apparently.
As said elsewhere:
Millions of users, gigabytes of downloads PER PERSON, and the service is only SLOW!?
Amazing.
My feelings on the article can be summed up by quoting the picture of the gamers in line:
"Japanese gamers came out in full force on launch day."
If I'm not mistaken, it's already been shown that's actually a line of people waiting to purchase a shipment of Nintendo DS. Comments at the time were mostly about how most people were more interested in their Nintendo handhelds while in that line than the PS3 demo unit.
Nobody else catch that one? Oh, ...
Most gamers I know plan on owning both a Wii and a 360 (and/or PS3) at some point. People who want the Wii only tend to be people who didn't want a console in the first place, and only chose the Wii for novelty.
Interestingly spot-on.
Literally the morning after 360's launch, as soon as the Gamestop where I worked opened, a large percentage of customers were telling us how Microsoft had issued a recall on all launch 360s. They all claimed to have heard this official recall notice from reputable sources ("my friend"), and argued with the employees because they were so sure it was in progress.
There might have been an honest issues with the 360 launch, I don't know. But many retailers will tell you t...
Millions of users, gigabytes of downloads per person, and the service is only slow?
Incredible.
...and massive shortages? Wha? 360 and Wii are producing tons of units that should keep gamers mostly happy through the season. Some will be left out, sure, but that's par for the course.
There's some other console that released that isn't providing even a fraction as many units to consumers, though... hmmm.. what was that one called again? ;)
Remember:
"We could probably sell our first 5 million consoles without games."
-Sony
There was a point during eA development when the devs did say the game was going to have trouble fitting on 5 discs. It wound up being kind of silly when they did realize the core game easily fit on one disc with little effort.
You can see another example with Small Arms- the developers were worried the game would take up 2GB of space and never fit on Live Arcade. 'Til they ran some compression, etc, and found it it easily fit under 50MB.
Whoops?
Shipping maybe just over 200k units in NA at launch doesn't make having a week-later shipment a good thing. It makes it saving face.
If true, hilarious. Both were absolutely horrendous launches in Japan. (Xbox 360 for lack of games/units, PS3 for... lack of games/units)
If this is PS3's killer upcoming title, PS3 is in trouble. And here's the proofiness: What's in Motorstorm that won't be done better in the next Burnout game? Heck, in the LAST Burnout game?
Massive crashes with tons of pieces flying off? Check.
Motion blur? Check.
Zillions of cars onscreen? Check.
Incredible visuals? Check.
Nitro/Turbo/Boost? Check.
Only Burnout does it all at 200+mph without slowdown. Motorstorm barely pulls 50+mph o...
