Xbox 360 dev units often come in black.
Welcome to early 2 years ago, and enjoy your stay!
Nice self-promotion, though.
Slightly shameless(/shameful).
Which is why damage modeling, top-name-licensing (Lamborghini, Porsche), drag racing, and AI improvements have been a hallmark of the series. Right?
And they really are against releasing an unfinished product- which is why the 100% completion bug is in GT2, right?
And then there's all the new things they've added to the series- like customizing cars with graphics and decals, tuning your car without reloading the test track, NOT having 22 different Skylines and Ev...
....do you even know what a "physics engine" is? Heh. I haven't seen the vid yet, but this sounds like mostly homebrew, completely new material rather than most anything Havok has done.
Some tricks?
Like having a superior online experience, or having an attach rate 3x higher than its competition? Or was it that 360's games look as good as (or better than) PS3 in most cases?
Dirty, dirty tricks I tell you!
[wth?]
Bad launch? No, it's about the letdowns.
"All launch games will be in 1080p at 60fps."
"We're ready to launch in Spring 06."
"PS3 will support 7 controllers at once."
"PS3 games will be clearly superior."
...etc.
They'll just be cell phone type games, just like iPod's doing. whoopie.
Sadly, you are wrong.
He has won a number of cases.
And that's more of a commentary about the American legal system than it isabout Thompson.
" I have seen all the current number stats, but can't find the launch comparisons."
I don't have exact numbers, but I do have a pretty honest answer for you- about the same. Sony still claims they're going to sell 1mil by year's end.. realistically, it'll be more like 360's numbers. I think 360's total was 600K units. PS3 is, basically, right on target for that.
Sony will probably claim >1mil units shipped by year's end, just like Microsoft quite acc...
I think he meant DOA's superior character models, mostly. Including the boobies.
In other news, the sun rose again this morning. Skeptics held with baited breath until the last moment, even refusing for many minutes to admit defeat. Some even went so far as to claim that the sun had not, in fact, risen and that lowlying moisture was producing an optical illusion. But with nationwide reports now pouring in, we're confident we can declare today's daybreak official.
Similarly, the new Final Fantasy game sold out within minutes of release and was hailed as the ...
Yeah, there weren't any AAA titles.
That's why 360 has a 3x higher attach rate than its competitors, and why Gears was looking like it would lose its #1 most-played spot to Rainbow 6 because R6 stole so many players from GOW.
There's just no competing titles out there.
Also don't forget, for examples, the continued success of Xbox Live (60+% attach rate), the continued success of Live Arcade (50+% demo>purchase conversion), etc...
Karl Marx once said that Democracies would naturally progress toward Communism as the people would demand more and more direct oversight of their lives, and I think this battle is living proof that he was at some level correct.
-Germany's moving to outlaw ALL shooters in that country.
-In the United States, your video game can be re-rated and to a tougher rating and your company sued for millions if third party mods add more mature / offensive content to your game (for e...
No, he's actually correct here.
When you actually get the two systems side by side, you see that Sony's unit doesn't really give you much to justify the price. Microsoft really does want PS3 to release worldwide so consumers aren't comparing 360 to what PS3 was supposed to be- they want consumers to see the reality.
-The games don't look any better (and most look worse at the moment). Or if they do look better, they don't look any better than their 360 counterparts would...
Random notes: Gears is selling amazingly well, but it's sales are tiny compared to "Da King". Of course, I speak of Halo 2, which sold 2.4mil in its first day.
And nothing's competing against Gears?
Really?
Then why is Rainbow 6 already looking like it's set to replace Gears as the #1 most-played game on live as it steals gamers away and toward the new hotness... er, as it were.
Non-competition... yeah...
Ever heard of "negative attention"?
It's when kids are only used to getting attention from their parents when they act poorly, and never when they behave.
The kids gets so used to associating negative attention with being the only way they can get and attention at all, that the only way they know to relate to other people is by earning their absolute hatred.
zOMG
btw: Can we get an admin to just delete this whole page and let us start over...
I have to say...
I'm kind of appalled at Nintendo about this one. They make claims that they "aren't in it for the money" like their competitors, but realistically, they could've released this console for $150 and made a profit on accessories and games. They're basically ripping off every single buyer for $100, for a 30+% profit margin. Wow.
Heck, this console could've been released for only $99 (read: Gamecube 1.5) and they could have easily still broken even ...
What happens when your system fries, but your HD is fine, and you just want a new console? People beg for Cores when that happens.
Appreciate the Core now- it might save you some cash later.
Q: "Why do BluRay movies look and sound consistently worse than their HD-DVD counterparts?"
A: "Due to the (rather poor) use of MPEG-2 and audio licensing issues."
Q: "Why do BluRay players consintently cost 2x as much as their HD-DVD counterparts?"
A: "Due to supply issues with BluRay diodes, mostly. That's also the reason for much of the supply shortages."
Q: "Why has BluRay sold 1/10th of what HD-DVD h...
As said elsewhere- if 360 doesn't at least look competitive when you have Blue Dragon and DOA4/X2 staring down Resistance and Gundam... THEN we could officially attribute 360's pains on nationalism with fact to back it up.

Not to mention...
-Original Xbox was supposed to be a media center like this. Microsoft made many public statements on proposed functionality, until they did a feasability check, and saw it would be WAY too expensive.
-Not long after, Sony announces the PSX, which is everything Microsoft didn't put into Xbox, and fails miserably for the exact reasons Microsoft said such a system would.
On to now:
-Microsoft delivers on a media-rich console that can stream m...
