...and also because Wii is outselling it 4-to-1?
For those who missed it, Micrososft has confirmed that the base 360 is fully capable of digital 1080p out, meaning all any 360 needs is an HDMI cable to function. And voila! As Microsoft has said, too few people have HDMI, and virtually all of them already get perfect 1080p via Component cables. There's not much need for HDMI.
Now those of you getting 1080p via Component who want HDMI for some reason, I'm sure Microsoft would love to take $50+ of your money for basically no rea...
The crackdown demo, for those who missed it, has incredibly accelerated skill progression. The reason it "gets repetitive" is because the devs wanted you to be able to experience everything you could possibly get your hands on with only the time limit to stop you.
Also, as said in the article, the Los Muertos district is the flattest and easiest district to play around in. Even when you're jumping across streets, scaling buildings, and having a blast with the architec...
As said, 360's lineup easily competes with its competitors. It is in fact Nintendo that's screwed- not for lack of quality, but because they're short in number. 360 and PS3 both not only have more games in development, but more original IPs, from more third-party companies.
Random:
-Blood Gulch > Valhalla, it's the level showing the Mongoose that's been tied to the Mancannon.
-There will be no other SPARTANs in the game. Didn't we already live down this crap in the lead-up to Halo 2? The games are about Chief and Chief alone.
-The shot of the ATV in the water is a Photoshop, for those keeping score. The Lens Flare is straight outta the filters section.
-Bungie shot down the idea of playable Brutes......
Two years and counting...
Is this going to be another Duke Nukem (In Development Land) Forever?
Wait, companies whose sole reason for existance is to make money are trying to make money off people!? NAW!!!
It's a good thing Nintendo is releasing all of its old titles for free on their online service, and that sony is doing the same.
-ALL Xbox 360 games can be upscaled to full 1080p.
-There is one native 1080p game for PS3- NBA 2k7. Which sucks. (did I miss any?)
Score currently:
Xbox 360, >200 (including backwards compatible titles, etc)
PS3, ~1
And any TV that can do 1080p almost certainly has component input, while very few have HDMI. And lots of those TVs probably have VGA too, for that matter. So arguing that HDMI = 1080p is totally baseless.
MGS: Solid Black Snake Twin Cobra Portable Tank Brigade Ultra Mecha Zulu Expansive Dreams Wild Crazy Magic Dream Edition: VR Missions: III: Zone of Beginners....
Coming to 4 different platforms near you!
WTH? There's a FF12 sequel now?
...o...k...
We can only hope it also achieves the massive disappointment and overhype that its predecessor did.
I was iffy about Crackdown, because I wanted that guaranteed invite. But after playing the demo, I'm sorry I ever doubted this title. It's just an incredible game.
Try jumping across a street, roof-to-rooftop, picking up a propane canister, beaning a mob boss a hundred feet away, then picking off the propane and blowing up his cohorts. Then beat any straggles to death with their former partners' bodies. Then dive an SUV up the side of a building and splat that one guy who keeps...
So for the first time since its launch, a PS3 ported game will FINALLY be somewhat better than the year-old 360 version?
INCREDIBLE NEWS!!!
:lollerskates:
Who wants to bet they'll try to pass CG off as gameplay again?
Wow, remakes for the PSP!? No way!!!
Minor correction: Sony said TWO million launch units. They corrected to one only at the last moment after the two million was looking obviously unachievable. People are (again) letting Sony's PR machine roll over them. *sigh*
Pretty good article otherwise, with some great tips all around.
Dreamcast itself deserves a second shot- games are STILL being made for it in Japan, even.
SEGA, c'mon, think DC2.
The PC gaming industry has been in trouble for a long time, now ESPECIALLY because of consoles.
-Consoles are cheaper
-Consoles always play the newest games, they don't require driver updates or new graphics cards.
-Consoles now stream media, connect for online gaming, and provide services like web browsing, realtime chat, or movie downloads
So yes, one platform will go extinct as the two sides unify. But the extinction will be gaming PCs. Internet/...
Chick needs to put clothes on.
I'm glad SC fans have generally united on this one- it's just stupid to throw a half-naked agent into what's supposed to be such a serious game setting.
Slap the mote into a shell?
It'd be nice if they could use the 'mote and 'chuck in the style of an actual guitar, but I don't see that as being terribly effective. Seems like you'd either miss too many notes, or just be using a totally revamped and weird new control scheme that'd change the game considerably. Maybe they could make it work, I dunno... but the shell idea looks likely.
