Sounds great to me. Should get me back into Civ 5 a bit more.
Aside from the last 5 minutes of the game I thought it was a truly spectacular experience. They hit the nail on the head for the rest of the story and also the experiences between crew members past/present.
Yea... It might be a bit "to soon" for most to read, but I had to write it while it was still fresh in my mind. One of the reasons I had the first two paragraphs spoiler free..
You are in for a treat though, really a great game and the connections between present and past crew members really shines. And like how many others are saying, the game is perfect until the last 5 minutes... Still doesn't ruin the entire experience though.
Nice review. I just finished and submitted my Mass Effect 3 review(doubt you would want to read it yet though!!). I do agree that Mass Effect 1 was a great game and probably the best "RPG" out of the bunch, but you are in for a real treat in ME3 as personally I feel like it is the best of the trilogy(besides RPG elements).
I played ME1 on PC after I had already finished ME2 on the ps3 and I couldnt make it through ME2 on the PC(game just wasnt fun on the 2nd play ...
Apple didn't really innovate gaming... All they did was allow small little flash-like games that have been on the PC for ages to be on their phones/tablets.
In a way I think they actually hurt gaming from a public standpoint. Most parents and casual people who just buy a few $.99 games on their iPhone think that is gaming. Then they see or hear that their son/daughter or friend is sitting in front of a PC or TV for 3-4 hours and don't get that the games are totally ...
Personally preorder bonuses are also crap, but in a way if that's what it takes for the game to make money and combat used games then its a necessary evil.
Pre-order bonuses I hate when there are like 6 different types for each retailer. It should be all the same or an online pass... Kind of odd that I hate the DLC scheme but don't mind online passes but I believe that the revenue should go to the developers and not second-hand retailers.

I agree. But I really wish that they would improve the story and depth a bit. Killzone has such a good setting and lore to build on(one reason I loved the original Killzone on ps2).
Killzone 3 improved that aspect slightly but still should keep expanding on the story and back story more.
That is a possibility. But it isn't really tied to being 100% digital since a lot of the PC gaming market is now completely digital/download(I download all my PC games now). And for a large part DLC isn't handled bad on digital games and free dlc/great patches are more frequent.
The problem is if the major publishers or console providers adopt that practice you mentioned(locked parts of a digital download). I hope it isn't the case but I won't be surprised i...
Team Fortresses F2P model is one of the best and hopefully other developers draw from it.
As far as buying items as long as they are purely cosmetic, "premium" items that arent unbalanced compared to free ones, or simply allowing people to buy items faster than earning experience in-game is fine.
But ripping off your customers like you said, or selling unbalanced items will just hurt the game.
I agree, I think DLC is now viewed differently by the publishers and even developers to a point. Instead of seeing it as adding in quality bonus content it is merely there from a revenue point of view which is wrong. Not that they shouldn't make money off of DLC but it shouldn't be the driving force behind a DLC strategy for a game.
If they can fit all the content into the game come release that is great, but if they decide, "Oh but this mission in the game isn&#...
Of course u finished it, didn't you read my post? So you mean that wonderful 5 second "ending" cutscene that did an amazing job at ending the game? Yea I thought so.
It won't happen until consumers stop buying day one or cut DLC. Until that happens it will be a common occurrence.
I really hope that if one of these is another Killzone game for the PS3(or PS4 hopefully) that they will go in a slightly different route.
I love the Killzone universe but the story/depth is always lacking in a way. KZ3 was a bit nicer, but it still was a bit shallow.
Would be nice to have the next game set in the "future" after KZ3 in a different setting. Have it expand to a new planet or planets and be more open world for parts of the game on gig...
Figures. When I travel outside the U.S(mainly Caribbean and Latin America) ever little shop has signs out saying "Brand New PS2 Games!" Or has a sign saying new PS2's just in, etc.
Interesting to see the change since before the ps3 launched it was all about the ps1, now they moved up a generation.
It's funny how people say the Vita is to expensive and not worth it. It costs the same as an Iphone4(with a contract, without the iphone is much more expensivea) when it packs in so much more hardware and technology.

I already canceled my pre-order since I am so disappointed in this game now. Maybe I will end up picking it up towards the end of the year, but I doubt it.
Seems like they stripped the game of all of it's good RPG elements and sectioned off parts for DLC. So most likely I'll just read about the ending to the story now.

Looks like a nice game, but $30 is a bit much. If it was $5-10 I would pick it up. Otherwise I will stick with the current strategy games I have now for my occasional fix.
Since the Mass Effect timeline is separated into "cycles" they could do a previous cycle and tell their story. Wouldn't have to be tied to the Protheans but it could be any number of races, only downside is that there would be no humans and some wouldn't connect as much to an alien main character.
