@ Orange.
Yeah that's interesting... there were some articles and news pieces floating around a few months back saying how much this game was a pain to develop.
I'm glad it is now seeing the light of day.
haha too true
personally as soon as i found out about it I told everyone I knew who would consider buying a video game. i'm going to have quite a mulitplayer posse for this. But as always a R* game will shine most brightly in the single player mode...
R* make top tier games and this one has everything going for. I particularly like the western theme- not many successful/good games have done it well.
@ t850
There's nothing in that article suggesting its gaming division made a loss- if you read it says that they revised last years loss forecast due to stronger performance in consumer electronics which includes gaming in televisions.
I'm not exactly part of anybody's corporate cheer squad, but it's my job to monitor stocks and profit/loss forecasts....
I have no idea where you guys got your facts from because Sony Corp. is expected to post an operating profit up on expectations. Their gaming division is also posting a profit.
See the attached article:

I think Metal Gear Solid 4 was pretty hard on the harder difficulties. That's a game that had numerous ways to complete a mission and didn't tell you what to do.
Otacon and the other team members were there for help but you had to physically dial them up on your codec- and then they only offered hints.
when's AW out in Australia?
@Persistthug
There are terms and conditions when you sign up to the PSN and when you update any firmware.
Its actually the PSN terms of use that you either accept or don't accept when you sign up to the PSN.
too true.
I love the Hitman series and how you have to investigate before you assassinate.
Console games, while I enjoy them, are so damned easy. The challenge is never the challenge itself, and figuring out what to do. Most games now simply challenge you by swamping you with enemies or have a sniper get you.
There are still genuinely hard games out there though. Metal Gear Solid 4 was a real challenge if you played it on hard. You geniunel...
There's nothing serious about the Fallout universe- it's one big, dark humoured satire of post war America (set in a post Apocalypse...)
I'm reserving judgement until I play it myself. I've heard good and bad things.
I might cancel that preorder and rent it first though...
No Sony don't actually 'buy their panels from Samsung'.
There is a factory in Korea that is a joint manufacturing venture between Sony and Samsung- so many of their lower line and entry level model TV's do have the same panels.
However, the top of the line Korean made Samsung TV's aren't as good as the top of the line, Japan made Sony models. So it depends on the models you are comparing.
'Game mode' actually switches a TV from '120hz' to 60hz and gets rid of alot of post processing effects that look good for movies etc. but make games look weird. Over 60hz games can get what's called 'input lag' and ghosting/artifacts.
So just as an aside- If your in the market for a purely gaming TV- then you don't need to spend the extra money on a 100hz+ tv. 60 is fine.
I think that's garbage about not being able to recognise 1080p below 42 inches.
I have 3 HDTV's in my house. My gaming TV is in my bedroom- and its a 32" 1080p Samsung LCD. There's another 32" Samsung in the Rec. room that's 720p, and finally the house's main TV is a 56" Pioneer Plasma, that's also 720p.
Having used my PS3 on all 3 extensively, I can definately say that even at 32", full HD makes a difference. Ever...
yeah despite what I said below I do agree that there are big disparities between what reviewers look for in a game.
so much hate over games these days.
appreciate them for what they are. if its good don't dis it just cos you don't like/have the system its on.
yeah....no.
Generally these throw away statements are from people who haven't played the games.
Capcom are really hit and miss. Consistency is not their strong point.
Poor port of a poor game.
Really though, bad quality ports should be a thing of the past by now. It's just downright lazy 4 years into the cycle.
The difference between 720 and 1080 is easy to tell, even on a relatively small screen.
The only proof I need is the comparison between the Full HD television that sits in my bedroom and the two, older, 720p TV's in my lounge and rec room. The full is clearer, sharper, and everything displayed on it looks much better.
I still think GTAIV, for its size and detail, has some of the best graphics out there. Haters be damned.
Infamous has great visuals... but I think as a total visual package GTAIV beats it.
To disclose I am a huge GTAIV fan though. For nearly a whole year it was all I played- I can't say enough good things about that game...
