Congrats EA, DS2 just went from being a day one purchase to a demo first/potential bargain bin grab for me. DS filled the void vacated by Resident Evil when it went all action-adventure on us with RE5.
Well Mr. Magnusson can make that claim because quite frankly...it is better.
Maybe it's just me but I've always thought it was dumb to list multiplats in a "top x games for x console" write-up. I mean you're pretty much admitting up front that the exclusive content for the console your preaching for blows in comparison to third party software which can be played elsewhere. No one buys a console specifically for multiplats, they buy them for exclusives since multiplats can obviously be played on more than one system. So why the hell then, on a list designe...
Lol, so true. My friend said he once saw a GS employee convince some sucker to spend $45 for a used copy of Gears of War 2 and then bump him for another $3 for one years worth of insurance on the disc rather than just dropping $60 on a brand new game instead. What an idiot.
Regarding the deal, as others have already said, VC has been on shelves for $20 for quite some time. Still, if you haven't already picked it up, it's a fantastic game from what my friends who own it have ...
I feel like MAG is headed down the same path as Killzone 2. KZ2 was incorrectly hyped as a Halo killer when in fact it plays nothing like Halo (Resistance 2 being a circle shooter actually plays more like Halo). When the game was released and gamers will still coming off of their COD high, they were quickly frustrated by KZ2's slower pace and more mature teamwork based gameplay. I feel like the same is true with MAG. The game is not a twitch shooter designed for folks with short attention...
As others have already stated, not really doing much to stand out from the competition in such a crowded market. Meh.
I never understood what the big deal was with the plat for KZ2. By far one of the easiest plats I've ever obtained. The Top 1% was a bit of a seven day grind to ensure that I made the cut before the ranks were reset on Sunday, but the single player campaign on Elite was not that hard. I still think that the obnoxious grenade spam I had to put up with while playing COD:WAW on Veteran difficulty was a bigger pain to deal with than Radec's goons.
Seeing as they've listed a few multiplats they might wanna add Battlefield: Bad Company, Far Cry 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV to the list while they're at it. I also heard that MK vs. DC Universe was a pain in the ass to get as well. As for PS3 exclusives that didn't make the list, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift comes to mind.
While I realize that Zipper has put a lot into MAG, as an online only title I still think that they should have bundled a mic with the game a la Warhawk and SOCOM and then offered the standalone game for $40. I was actually a little surprised when they announced that it would sell at full retail without a single player campaign.
Good to hear that most of the talent is being kept in house via relocation. Evolution ain't exactly a bad place to call home either considering how awesome Motorstorm is. The main thing to me (and most gamers I would think) is that the Wipeout franchise lives on under the direction of at least some of the Studio Liverpool team.
Extra in-game costumes for free? C'mon this is Capcom we're talking about. We all know there'll be a $25 surcharge for extra costumes.
Interesting vid. I'm not a big fan of uber twitch shooting mechanics but we'll see if they can make it work here. I supposed the twitch controls are necessary with the three classes playing so differently and so many close range attacks. The 1 vs. all Alien and Predator modes and the 4 player co-op survival modes look the most interesting to me. Still though, with Rebellion's recent track record, a demo is a must. That and this game doesn't look too great in terms of visuals.
Shame on you Sony...for putting out so many quality games that gamers won't have time to keep up. MAG, Heavy Rain, GT5, Resistance 3, ModNation Racers, The Last Guardian, GOW3, White Knight Chronicles, Yakuza 3/4 and not to mention an assload of awesome multiplats and now...Twisted Metal. Fak, so many good games.
If it is in fact a new Twisted Metal this will be an automatic buy. It seems like vehicular combat games dropped off the face of the Earth ever since TM: Black. I've...
NFS has been nothing but FAIL status ever since the release of Pro-Street which was simply awful. Even Carbon which game before it was mediocre in comparison to what IMO was the last of the great NFS games, "Most Wanted". Undercover was meh and didn't live up to the "return of Most Wanted" hype. Shift was what Pro-Street should have been but lets be honest, is anyone really interested in a half sim, half arcade racer like Shift?
The question I'm interested ...
Meh, the phrase "two years too late" comes to mind. GTAIV wasn't a complete FAIL but the fact that Rockstar purposely withheld content from the core game in order to make the DLC more appealing is a big turn off. Unless the PS3 version of EFLC receives an HD remake of San Andreas (which it obviously never will) I could care less.
Is this article supposed to be some sort of joke? KZ2 is by far the best FPS of '09. Everyone talked about the visuals but for me, it was the slower paced and more tactical multiplayer that I simply could and still can't get enough of. The single player story may be forgettable but it's no more cliched than MW2's SP campaign which was nothing more than bits and pieces of Hollywood war and action films slapped together. KZ2 was a fresh change of pace in the FPS multiplayer department last ...
I understand the basic reasoning behind activation limits but to me, if you buy a game, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want with it. There will always be pirated copies of games, hacks, mods etc... IMO DRM actually contributes to a game being pirated even more by pissing people off. In the digital age, there really is no surefire way around bootleg copies.
Story is crap but if looting is your thing, don't miss out on this one. One of the very few games I got on PC instead of PS3 and I'm very glad I did as I've had all kinds of fun experimenting with wacky custom weapons.
Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Starfox 64, Turok 2, Blast Corps, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Ocarina of Time.
