The issue isn't a matter of caring, or not caring. The issue is Skyrim is a very complex game with massive amount of content which makes it very difficult to test.

Microsoft charges game developers huge amounts to release patches on xbox. Not all developers can afford it.
I recently played Saints Row 2 because it was included with playstation plus. I didn't know much about it when I downloaded it. Having played and finished it I have to say it's really fun.
I tried Saints Row the Third on gaikai and I was so impressed that I'll be picking it up next time I'm in a store that sells video games.

When a person brings a game back to gamestop they don't give you cash they give you credit. This credit goes towards getting more games.
It works like this:
- guy buys game
- guy brings it back for credit
- guy gets another game with cash + credit
The used market allows gamers to get more games than they could normally afford.
I don't have exact numbers but I suspect that if the used market goes away new sales ...

Oblivion runs better on the ps3 than the xbox. Additionally Infamous 2 is an exclusive and one of the best looking open world games and it runs well.
