I agree, Shift was awesome, but so is GT5, just in another way.
With Shift its fun to race fast and smash some things up here and there without being penalized. With GT5 I get that sense of accomplishment after every race, especially the hard ones. With Shift I bought a Corvette, maxed it out and that pretty much beat the game for me. I already used more cars in GT5 and can see myself going for that trophy for 1,000 cars haha.
You should check out the Digital Foundary analysis. Its quite in depth and explains the AA, Which I believe in 720p mode is 4XMLAA and they use another type of AA for 1080p mode.

So why stay away from GT5 but now Call of Duty?
The game came out a few days ago and already its being bashed for online connectivity. Does anyone else remember when Call of Duty 4 was short servers for a few months after release?

Kinect hasn't been sold out yet either. At least where I'm at, and many other locations as well according to others. Its not a bad thing that they aren't sold out, but don't just point to Move, that will get you a label you probably don't want.
I can't say for sure, but I've played it for a while now and I'm pretty sure its in Standard cars as well.
Mechanical damage should definitely be in all cars when you unlock that at 20, and then full mechanical damage at 40.
I wasn't expecting more, but some reviews I've read seem to be expecting a lot more from the game.
I know the fans are satisfied. I'm satisfied. But some reviewers are really nit picking and saying the game should be better, IGN even labeling it one of the biggest let downs of 2010. I think it was IGN.
I might agree, but what level was the GT5 video at? The AI and Damage get better as the player levels up, like a simulator.

Okay everybody seems to have me pinned as an Xbox fanboy. I actually LOVE this game and am playing it for over 6 hours a day.
All I was saying is people were expecting too much. And that I've seen games developed on longer cycles that don't come remotely close to the level of detail and completeness of GT5.

They say the game is great technically and does things that were unheard of prior to GT5. Of course those aren't exact words ha.
Also the little things like shadows don't ruin a game, or else we wouldn't be playing any other racer, let alone many other genres that lack great shadows. I've played many racers with just blob shadows, at least I can see my side mirror in the GT5 one and the window outlines.
Neither were some other games, I know a few that took many years that failed on their promises. GT5 didn't deceive me once. PD didn't lie to me once. They told me what I was gonna get and I got it.
Minor flaws, the ones that effect game play being addressed as we speak with patches. I can agree to nitpick on some things that should have been standard, like in car view for all cars, but thats not going to stop me from enjoying the game.

I agree completely, WOW was amazing when I played it last summer, couldn't put it down. now I feel the same about GT5
Agreed, I honestly think reviewers are scoring it so rough because they expected way to much from GT5. The fan hype that was created was insane. I guess they expected GT5 graphics, with like NFS Shift action or something, which isn't how real life is, so why would GT5 be like that?
I guess they expected to put the game in and just have there jaws drop.
