You obviously don't understand the idea of competition. I won't say Microsoft makes crappy peripherals. But the fact is their only real competition in the peripherals business is Logitech. And they own the market. If Microsoft buys them they'll completely own the market. What does that mean? They can just put out garbage and charge double for it and we'll have no option but to buy it.

This is why Microsoft is constantly getting into trouble with governments too. Unfair practice...

That would be horrible too since Logitech makes great steering wheels. I hope this isn't allowed to happen. Maybe Google will see a good business to buy and swoop in and steal Logitech. I'd rather see them buy Logitech. And that sure would make Microsoft mad. We just can't have Microsoft owning the peripheral market.

Maybe Sony can buy Logitech.

But this isn't about looking good. It's about keeping the 360 from dying. Would you rather have a dead 360 in a nice looking case or a 360 that runs without crashing?

Too bad Microsoft didn't just do a better job designing their case. The PS3 was designed to keep it cool and it looks nice too. I can feel heat coming out the side but it runs quiet and the heat isn't inside where it can do damage. Maybe the new processor in the 360 will help. It will use less power and will be sm...

That's an interesting thought. Can they detect it?

As for doing this, is it a good idea? The big problem the 360 has is a poor design from the start. The case is a big problem. The heat isn't able to get out and causes problems. A new case could fix the RROD problem. But the 360 now has a three year warranty. This will kill that. What if you end up with the RROD anyway? Then you're out the money for the case and the 360. Maybe Lian Li can make a deal with Microsoft to sell a cu...

By the end of 2008 Nintendo will be changing the gaming industry again. When the Wii tanks and all those casual gamers don't buy any games. Already we're seeing articles on the Web begging Wii gamers to buy more games. While the Wii itself is selling the games just aren't. The reason? Casual gamers aren't real gamers. They don't buy many games. So okay, the Wii is selling well. But if you're a third party developer is it a good platform to make games for? No. You want real gamers to buy your ...

Please somebody. Anybody. Don't let this deal go through. Logitech is too good of a company to have this happen. Who will compete with Microsoft's devices? Soon the peripheral market will have nothing worth buying and it will be a bunch of expensive and crappy mice and whatever. The market needs someone out there not named Microsoft.

How long before Jack Thompson blames the whole nuclear mess on gamers?

"who cares. do u even realize ps3 is in last place. clearly the gamers have chosen wii and xbox instead of ps3. get over it."

You're really dumb. The PS3 is just over a year old. And it's selling great. This year will be its big year. The 360 had its second year in 2007 and had a lot of big games come out. The first year was a lot of crap. At least the PS3 had some big games in its first year.

I say by the end of 2008 it will be a close race and in 2009...

"This sucks big time, who cares what star wars character represents which console, the fact that they won't be in the same game is screwed up."

I agree with that. If the PS3 and 360 could play against each other online then it would be okay but they can't. We'll never get to have them battle each other in the game. Maybe Namco could do a Star Wars version for Lucas Arts. All Star Wars characters. That would be the best way to do it.

Games4fun - "i've played soul calibur since the original that was released on the dreamcast!!!!!

Wasn't the real first game called Soul Blade on the Playstation? I believe that's the game that started it all. I guess they changed the name for the Dreamcast version. Soul Blade was a great game.

Somebody had too much free time on their hands to come up with this one. The PS3 the dark side? No way. Maybe it's because the PS3 is black. That makes more sense than the PS3 being the dark side anyway.

Not until 2010? That's a long time to wait. These standards committees sure take a long time to finalize specs. That's about normal in the computer industry. It would be nice to see this out by the end of the year though. I guess nothing will communicate that fast right now though. Can you imagine how fast you can download photos from a digital camera over that connection? Now if everything can just go wireless.

Sony is really smart on this idea. Not only did they find a way to get me to start buying Blu-rays now I might buy a new PSP. I'll see how things go on my old PSP first. This will definitely help them though. It will kill UMD for movies but then I thought that happened last year. I haven't been buying Blu-rays since I don't have an HD TV yet but if I can also watch the movies on my PSP it will be worth the extra few dollars.

I wouldn't say hard drive prices are expensive right now. I bought a 500GB internal SATAII hard drive for around $120. Is that too much? This story though is lame.

"What do you think all this AACS/BD+ talk has been about in the last two years?"

I don't think you see the point. There's nothing stopping you from taking that Blu-ray disc to your friend's house and watching it there. DRM doesn't stop you from doing that. It only keeps you from making copies. A lot of these downloads though make it so you can't do that. You have to watch it on your sytem. I lend a lot of my DVD movies to friends. Can you do that with a digital downlo...

Digital downloads just take too much time. And I don't mean the download part. What if your hard drive crashes? With an optical disc copy you don't have to worry. You can label all your discs and find them easily if needed. Backing up to other hard drives doesn't help. I've tried that. You end up with lots of copies of the same files and then aren't sure which is the copy you want.

Downloads are okay if you want to view something and throw it out. If you do that for movies thou...

This is really dumb. I know I wouldn't buy more hard drives to back up important data or even videos I download. I'd want a long term backup. That's some type of optical disc. Blu-ray is the future for that. Hard drives wear out and crash. I don't know how long an optical disc will last but I'm sure a Blu-ray disc will outlast any hard drive. And you can just keep buying more discs to make more copies.

I guess Microsoft asked this guy to say this and help them. I have nothing a...

I say it's about time you Xbots get what we've put up with the last year. The tides are turning. The PS3 is going to take the top spot back in the console business. You can count on that. Gamers soon will see the PS3 is the most powerful console and has all the great games. The 360 has no clothes. It's a piece of junk. I can't believe anyone would waste money on something that has at least a 30% chance of breaking on them. The Xbox Live problems will be the last straw for a lot of people too....

Very cool? I think you mean very hot. Those things put out way too much heat.

Because Microslop deserves it, that's why. They found a way to ditch all those broken down 360s that had the RROD. Just repair them really quick and give them away. And write them off as charity too. The other way to get rid of them would be pay to dump them in a trash dump.
