I wouldnt count on UC4 coming out, that'll be saved for next year to fill the post launch dip that all consoles go through. Look at the WiiU, decent launch then nothing for months. Uncharted will be aiming for a summer 2014 release I think.

@Jeff so the fact that they actually show a box somehow puts your mind at rest? Why not take the conspiracy a step further and say how do we know the box isnt just a hollow shell? Should they break one open on stage to show us its insides?
The dev kits are out there. What shape the box is isnt important. Sony want a card to deflect attwntion away from MS at E3. The actual hardware is that card.

Heres what I dont get. If you're upset that devs dumb down PC games because of consoles, hate the devs not the machines. Developers could spend a bit more time creating an optimized version for PC. If they dont it isnt Sony or Microsofts fault.
Second did you ever think that a PC game has to run on a low end PC as well as a high end one? PC's could be said to hold games back just as much as consoles.

Microsoft arent stupid. They'd love to do it, but they wont.
Thing is people might cry about it but they'll still buy it, especially in America. Here in Europe we have no such loyalty ties simply because something was made in our country, so MS would lose maybe only 1-2% of its user base to Sony.
The Playstaion meeting was like a teaser trailer for a film. You dont expect anything more than a sneak peak before the main trailers hit.

The feel of the PS2 comes from the games that were released AFTER launch. You have no idea how the PS4 is going to turn out but as someone old enough to remember the PS1 and PS2 launches believe me they didnt have that mystical fun element, that came after.

My concern for MS would be if they follow a strategy of being an entertainment device as their focus, will people buy it if they own a 360? Think of the things the 360 does as an entertainment device already, can MS offer more to justify upgrading? And if not they'll be falling back on games and Im not sure they can come out strong enough.

In terms of specs they'd be pretty similar. Slight differences in how its all laid out but essentially the same "power" under the hood if you like.
The differences then become about philosophy and strategy. Sony is going for gamers, Microsoft if rumours are to be believed are going for being the single entertainment device in the living room. Which you prefer is up to you and your needs.

From what I saw Sony have married a powerful console to a "gamer focused and developer centric" strategy that will be hugely successful for them. I would argue the PS4 is a beast with very focused, long sighted vision.

Both consoles will have tons of games, but Sony owns more first party studios so I expect them to have a better showing over time.
