also I've never had any problems with mine, neither have any of my friends after these updates.
people will buy it just to play hacked games and movies, which means less mony for sony, especially since it is already selling at a loss.

it's only first gen, so i'm sure they will tweak out more later, and the ps3 will eventually catch up.
But sony really needed to hit the ground running, especially with gears setting such a high bar for them. It seems more they tripped coming out of the gate(with the exception of R:FOM), and will now have to work even harder.
The bad news? Europe gets a preview of what to expect before they buy, and that is not going to hel...

that's right on, except they obviously don't. they care more about getting blu-ray into your living room, if they cared for gamers, they would have made one without blu-ray for gamers.
I think it's just sony trying to sound big so they can try and sink MS like they did sega.
they needs to learn talk is cheap these days, and people are more of the "put up or shut up" especially with sony at this point.
lets think about it, a ~50 meg game cost a few hundred thousand and results in a 400-800 point purchase(~5$), so something 10X that size will cost what to develop and cost how much to DL?
look at all the mods that were done to the original xbox, and how many of those features then got added to the 360.
people want to hack it so it can do things they want. it will all depend on how sony deals with the hacks.
I give big kudos to MS for incorporating a number of those things into the 360. there is still more i'd like to see, but it's a great start:)
although I have media center already, but it's great news for those without:)

loosing money on the hardware, and not making it up with game sales is not a good thing.

seriously, can we not just lose the screenshots these days and make the posts video/gameplay footage only?
that's only the hardware cost of the unit loss. it does not count manufacturing, shipping, marketing, etc...it's probably quite a bit more the 87 million.
seems like the "in thing" to do, cause everyone is delaying their ps3 stuff.
sony said people would buy it even without games, guess developers are testing that theory;)
the sound in that video is just painful...
all I want is them to be taken down a few pegs as their arrogance and lack of respect for the ps2 fanbase that has kept this company alive when every other department was failing annoys me to no end.
they seem to think that SONY=god and everyone will buy their stuff regardless. (even without games [end quote])
I have said before, I wouldn't want them to dissapear as that would lead to less competition from MS and nintendo. but sony finishing 2nd or 3rd might be ...
now I know really not too bother buyin one in '07, since the new one is only 3 years away.
