because they are downloaded, means people are aware of it and using it.
look how popular the XBL movie service is, walmart is setting up their own as well as amazon and netflix (and I'm sure others).
bottom line, more people are downloading movies than using blu-ray and hddvd combined.
there are way more people downloaing movies now than there are using either blu-ray or HDDVD.
with the software that XBL is using it actually starts streaming in a few mins, you don't have to wait hours.

the 360 has had many delayed games too, yet the ps3 delays are the ones that garner all the negative press.
MS didn't want HD DVD to win, why? cause neither format winning is a benefit to them. they just wanted to cause a prolonged format war long enough for them to get downloadable/streaming movie service going. Anything that comes through the internet, is a bonus for them.
and look at the success, bother HD formats are doing terrible, and movie download services are taking off. the XBL movie service is doing great.
