a crappy game looks better on the 360, does anyone care?
that's the point the article is making about why nintendo didn't win, is because most people are not buying many games, they are just playing wii sports.
selling more HW will help nintendo win the short term, but if they can't convince 3rd party devs to make more for their system, they will get eclipsed by MS and Sony very quickly when their console price starts dropping(hopefully soon), and more big titles start coming out(MGS, killzone, gears 2, fable, GTAIV, etc).

but the yahoo portal is the second largest one out there aside from google, and MSN is the third. that puts them in a much better position to go against google, and lets not forget their new stake in facebook.
could you imagine the popularity of being able to acces facebook, yahoo/live messenger and XBL services from one spot?

while I tend to agree with a lot of what you are saying as to what makes PC gaming great, it's also those factors in what is killing PC gaming, it's just too complicated for most, hell I used to be a hardcore PC gamer myself. but I couldn't stand FPS's on PC cause it was just so damn annoying and complex, and there is a big learning curve to get good at it. But I love playing FPs's on my console.

I have gone DD, life couldn't be better. I have no urge whatsoever to own discs as I never watch movies over again.
and I didn't have to waste money on some sill disc player, and even more money on discs that I will never use more than once.
may not be for everone, but the amount of torrents out there tell me a different story.
but I notice nobody mentioning they downgraded their forcasts from ~11 million to ~9.5 million.

the guy makes a valid point, you can disagree with it all you want, but high def disc formats wiil not last anywhere near as long as DVD's did.
I can't see it happening, MS sales of this game will already be strong and will outsell the ps3 anyway (not trying to flame, just with the current install base, it's true). so why would the need to do this?
I could see if you pre order gtaiv and a new 360 console, then the content free would be a good incentive, cause that would help move some consoles from undecided ps2/original xbox users looking to upgrade their system for this game.
