and it's biggest games so far have been halo 3, gears of war, and call of duty 4, none of which are PC ports.
and sony hasn't been doing much to compete?
the 40 gig version was a cheap model out to compete with the cheaper 360.

I've seen it on multiple TV's and I think it looks great and can tell the difference.
but then again the people us here are not joe average, that seems to be one fact that the people seem to always miss is that they are not the average. we are above the technology curve, and have the good TV's, the good stereos, the better computers, the latest cell phones, etc...
joe average bought a half assed HDTV at walmart, that likely only does 720p, and was made by citizen...

certainly not enough yet for the mass market to justify bying a new 300-500$ player, and then 20-30$ discs. (and yes I know you can occasionly get them for 15$ through amazon.com, and pls blu ray fans don't bother responding with a list of sites where you can buy movies and save a few bucks).

I was over at a friends house who has a ps3, and he showed me both on a few DVD's he had, and a few blurays and there was very little difference.
when we put a regular dvd player and compared it to blu ray, there was a HUGE difference in quality, but an upscaled DVD is almost exactly the same. the only other difference would be sound, but not many people have a 7.1 system these days anyway.
defeating HDDVD was one victory, there is still an uphill battle for the...
but I will not be buying any movies for it, only games.
now that the 360 supports HDWMV files, and I have a nice way of converting ripped bluray files to hdwmv I am quite happy.

mass effect only came out last november, a whopping 6 months ago exaggerating boy, and halo 3 was out 2 months before that. and bioshock was a month before that. ALL less than a year ago.
